my current archer template is as follows:

Archery 120
tactics 110
healing 90
chiv 90
bushido 100
anatomy 100
focus 100

current skill cap is 710

THinking of exchanging focus for necro would i get enough mana leech even without a mana leech weapon ?

There's several was you could go. I'd drop focus for resist spell. Push it to 120 and you'll be better able to fight mages or high level spell casting monsters.

Something like this:

Archery 120
Tactics 100
Anatomy 100
Bushido 120 (you'll notice a big difference at higher levels, try to go 115 at least)
Healing 90
Chivalry 80
Resist 120

You can add 20 points of any skill in items to reach this level, and you'll love the template.

I'd go with:

Archery 120
Tactics 120
Anatomy 90
Healing 100
Chiv 70
Resist 90
Bushido 120

This is VERY close to the template I use on my Archer, and he's got the most survivability and versatility of any character I have and outdamages all of them as well.

I've had my bushido archer similar to GFY's template, and it is a PvM powerhouse.

At 120 you need fewer steps to reach perfection, (7 vs 10 I believe) you get critical hits more often, your confidence special will work better, and you'll get better chance of max luck when you kill your opponents. Just to name a few.

With necro as i understand your post, you will need spirit speak as well for wraith form. If your human you might get in wraith from joat but with 50% fail rait. that way you can add in 100 SS and lose nothing more than the focus. Now here the thing, If your target runs out of mana so do you. I was doing something simular on a general and I ran out of mana to leech after the 2nd hit! But things with a large mana pool work great as targets!. Now with JOAT youll effectivly have 40 regn skills and If you have enough MR on the suit youll do fine!

The other way to go is vampire. This means youll need ML on the bow but you will gain alot of MR &STMR and leech health with every hit.

Mana wins battles although you can get by if you have descent slayer bows without mana and are just farming.

Drop focus, add resist.

Drop chivalry a few.

Boost bushido as high as you can get it.

DI you can compensate with the talisman and other DI or use bushido jewelry and scroll up bushido.

As long as you have descent damage output you will forget about anything else with the use of perfection. I can fight MORE difficult mobs using perfection and knight of honor than could possibly be done without having that capability.

Why you ask? Answer is simple:

Based on the number of steps of PERFECTION you have gained fighting an opponent, you will RECEIVE back an applicable percentage of HP, Stamina and mana back after each fight. This of course provided you honored the opponent.

120 Bushido it takes only 9 steps to achieve max perfection.

Being at GM skill it will take you roughly one step longer...EVERY time to achieve "max" perfection.

The extra one step is SIGNIFICANT since basically you will be able to get more return back every single time vs. say someone with GM bushido...and higher critical chance: 20% vs. say around 13%. 20% doesn't seem like a lot but it seems to kick in often for me.

My template is similiar to GFY's and basically with the right gear, stat setup and what have you...you can destroy MANY difficult things with that setup.

thanks for the info

i was surprised not to see more pro necro post...maybe because i dont have ss on this guy

maybe i can take the resist off my sword guy and replace that with necro since i have more mana leech swords weaps than bows

The issue you have then is using items to break paralyze, get rid of curse and so on. If you REALLY wanted necro...not sure why for PvM, since curse weapon seems a lot more effective with a melee weapon and wacking constantly at the mob.

120 Archery
110 spirit speak (+10 from talisman to make 120)
100 necromancy (+5 from talisman to make 105) no need for more.
60 to 75 chivalry (your choice depending how comfortable you are with your success rate on divine fury, etc.
120 tactics
100 healing
110 anatomy

If you wanted a straight up PvP type setup you could go:

120 Archery
110 Spirit Speak
105 Necromancy
120 Anatomy
120 Healing
120 Resist

Basically use high damage bows + equipment to get as high of damage output to 300% as you can in terms of PvM if you used this.

Case in point though, most people don't use necromancy on fighting templates...i.e. actually casting spells a lot since "some" people don't have the resources to make a good suit that has 100% LRC. It is hard to do and get all the DCI/HCI setup you need. Just really only need HCI though for PvM.

BUT, I suppose...if you only wanted 100% success rate on curse weapon, you are looking at a value of around 70 necromancy. In My opinion, that is a lot of points for just one use..., although you can recall in wraith form around 65% or so of the time. You would need 90 necromancy to recall 100% of the time and not fail.

Necro really isn't necessary for a PvM archer. You're better off putting the skill points into Resist. Archers take much less damage than any other warrior type and can heal the majority of it with Healing, then using Confidence from Bushido for that extra boost heal, and finally Chiv healing if necessary.

Mana leech bows are pretty much a necessity for any archer. Mana is key to winning battles.

Noticed that you didn't have tactics, figured you would have at least 70 or 90 so that you could do specials.

Hey thanks, excellent observation. Yes my mind was not in the right place at the moment ...it had slipped my mind the tactics rule. Scratch the 2nd template I showed then. It is obsolete now.
