Thinking About Moving To A Lower Population Shard

Atlantic and Great lakes seems to be 1 and 2 in population. Wondering what shards would be like 3, 4, and 5? Any guesses? Was thinking I'd like a shard where I could get 3 18x18 (or larger) in the same area yet still has some viable population. The area I'd prefer to live in would be Trammel. But to focus I'm more interested in populations.

I don't think you will ever see that number released, not the real number. Same as you won't see the subscriber numbers released. I think if they ever released the true number of players, not subs, but Players---it would probably depress the hell out of ya

I was surprised how active Europa is lately, I was wandering through for a shard transfer and saw about 30+ people in luna bank and luna stable looking at their Christmas decorations. Pretty sure houses are very cheap and easy to get on Europa as well. Might be a place to consider.

Legends rather surprised me. They didn't even get their bank decorated. Since the shard was named after Legends of Kesmai I actually played it for awhile. I have a decent fencer there also who placed a tower back when it opened. There are some really nice spots there. After realizing what it would cost me to actually move I think I may just drop one house and possibly place one on Legends.

The shard that used to be named "AOL Legends" that they changed to just "Legends" was named after Legends of Kesmai?

At a guess, I'd put GL, Chessie, and Asuka at #2, LS and Yamato at #3, Cats, Izumo, and Wakoku at #4, maybe Pacific, Europa, Drachenfels, Mizuho, Sakura, and Oceania at #5.

I play a lot of shards, the ones that are surprisingly active IMO (just from being on at random times (american shards):

Chessy (lot of people there they don't get enough credit)
Napa (very nice ppl I can always get a focus just from asking)
Catskills (if you role play)
Sonoma (Seems to be very active pvp in general chat heh)
LS (if you enjoy PvP)

Good luck with that one :)

You get population, a sustainable community and things to do on Atlantic and Great Lakes.
Everywhere else you get useless houses to decorate and store the gear you may occasionally use on your lonely hunts.

Its pretty obvoius trawling all the 27 shards [my world tour]...there are 5 groups of shards

1. highest populous... by a country mile is Atlantic...[housing market is still bouyant although slowing down and vendor shops/markets litter the land even malas is well well used]

2. above average populous...4 shards Great Lakes and Chessy in the west and Asuka and Yamato in the east... [castles are sought after and pay high...even placing a keep is hard, more likely to have to buy one in tram and lots of vendors/shops....even life in malas on these 4 shards!!]

3. average populous shards...Euro, Pacs, Cats, Lake superior, Siege[maybe], Napa in the west and Hokuto, Mizuho in the east...[castle are all taken/placed but some often come on the market but prices are fair and its easy to place a keep in tram/fel, the shopping are just ok but malas is looking bleak indeed.

4. below average populous... baja, legends, sonama, drachs and lake austin in the west and inzumo, wakaku, formosa and sakura in the east...[ these shards have a few castle spots free for placing at most times and castle sell really cheap if not, keeps are extremely easy to place even in trammel, less shops and vendors than the average populous shards and malas is pretty well green wastelands.

5. dying shards... [sorry] ...Origin in the west and in the east Airang ,Balahe, Mugden and Oceania...[loads of castle spots free, pretty well castle only and luna shards these- even spots in luna on some, not many shops and malas is simply empty]

It is difficult for me to imagine someone not wanting to be on Great Lakes, which seems to have an excellent balance of most things.

Especially not you, Captain Lucky, who's both pretty well known and pretty well liked.

You quite assuredly will be missed if you leave.

Yes it would be VERY difficult to abandon Great Lakes. I think I'll be more of a dual shard guy :) Dang I wish I had shard transfer shields lol. I had no idea I was well known lol. But thanks for the kind words. It's not overly difficult to piss me off and I'll be the first to mention it so I imagine it's about 50/50 on people that like or dislike me lol. Just need a new adventure and I think I'll use one of my accounts to do that. Just FYI Legends has a big leg up right now due to available house placement and since I have some well developed characters there. I made 10K last night so it'll be awhile till I'm up and running :p Unless I break down and and buy a transfer and ship like 50 mill over.

I gota rune to a fel castle spot. I almost activated another account to claim it. Its got water for your boats, forest for your lumberjacks, and a road out front to run from reds :)

I'll save it for you capt jack, if you want it. If not, I'd be happy to give it to anyone else that's interested.

Ya fel is out for me. Not because of the rule set but because it just looks depressing to me lol. I'm not sure it's necessary any longer for the place to look so devastated.

I'm on Oceania a lot it isn't dying. It has a low population but great people really they are.
Balahe has a very low population but there is some great people there as well that I have talked with.

Some of the others shards I believe you have mixed up. Baja, Napa and Sonoma has similar populations numbers. The Asuka and Yamato has more then Grate lakes. Hokuto is about equal to Great lakes.

Oceania's population is actually increasing again from what I can tell. We recently got a new EM after being without one for agggggges so I think that's helping a lot. I've just come back to Oce after a 3-4 year break and there is definitely more players on it now than there was when I left, which really surprised me. Many on Oce dont have vendors on the shard because they xshard to Atl instead to sell stuff at higher prices.

If you are seeking chill and peacefull shard, then i recommend you Europa. Lots of 18x18 spot, some castle spots, helpful and active players waiting for you :) .

Not speaking poorly of any other fine shard and it's community. My choice was Legends due to being able to locate a Trammel castle spot, an obscure spot with a few weeds sticking up through the floor. Plus it was a Trinsic loctaion and I'm a freak over Trinsic. Also I had a GM fencer and a GM crafter there from back in the day. I announced my arrival and was greeted with numerous offers for help. There was a EM Event Saturday, which I was unable to attend cause there was, and still is, much to do. The vendor situation is a little tough and finding things like mark scrolls, stone tables, and little odds and ends is difficult. Haven't seen many rares available yet. I brought many necessities with me and 50 mill in gold so that certainly was a big plus. ;) What's a castle without a kitten or a nice supply of paintings? I also have an excellent connection to Legends.

OKAY... could use help with this. In the main center castle room (to the center and left I have some pesky weeds sticking up through the floor. How have you folks dealt with that? It's been suggested to encompass them into a floral garden type thing. I've also found stone tables cover them nicely, so with some creative decorating they can be hid. I mined all over and was able to get enough stone to make one table after many fails, so that sucks... If there are more suggestions I'm interested! Pics! I've looked at other shards and most have their castle locked up so I might check some more shards later. Was hoping to see what some others had done at that location. But many have this issue so I'd love to hear about it. As suggested I bought, a goat but that isn't working.

Catskills is in the middle population wise.. It is a RP shard though so you'd have to ask yourself if your in to that..

I think it's the best shard of them all.. but I'm biased.. :)

I said, "The Asuka and Yamato has more then Grate lakes." I didn't say they are equal in population to Atlantic

well ok that maybe true...but my groups done allow for that....ive tried to use a solid 5 groups instead of many....i think the 5 groups ive used are very distictive and work well...fullest /above avergae/average/below average and emptiest

Beisdes the OP chose Legends were my guide clearly states castle spots are free to place....with a little bit of looking and searching
