Hello. I played back in 1998-1999 and then came back for a short time when I purchased "The 8th Age"

My name was Jagr on here but I dont think anyone would remember me. I also had a very red named PK but I wont get into that lol.

Anyway, I wanted to ask what exactly is there to do? I kind of maxed my character out using the expansions that come with 8th Age. I found myself logging on with nothing really to do.. any suggestions before I insert my credit card and re-install? Oh also, I dont really want to keep making characters over and over just for the sake of having something to do.

Treasures of tokuno are back for the next few weeks.
Factions have been given a bunch of updates.
They added a lot of new rewards for champ spawns (including the illshnear and tokuno spawn)

There's also a new expansion coming out.. eventually. Gargoyles will be the new race.

Hmm so it sounds like I would need to buy more expansions, etc, to continue those existing characters. I used to pvp like crazy back in the day and it was my favorite part of the game. I was always listed on the bank and had the max reputation title whatever that was

If I have to go out and buy some expansions it doesn't sound worth it

Over time, the cost of the expansion is not really a factor compared to the monthly account cost. You also only have to get the most recent expansion to have virtually all content to date.

However, if PVP is your thing, you really do not need the expansions too much. Just gold to gear up!

Ok, I am gonna come back. Couple quick questions

Pvp... in the old days you walked around in the "wild" and killed people.. at least I did.. are there designated places to go to expect pvp now?

I cant remember my template at all and cant log in until tonight but I believe it's a bard/tamer type character. How much adapting (skills and armor) do I need to do if I want to Pvp more? You dont use good armor and weaps when pvping, correct? I have looked ALL over for pvp guides but they are scarce and outdated. Anyone have a link to a great guide?

My original character in 1998-99 was a thief. I am considering making one again. Is there a great pvp/pve build someone can suggest to work on?

Ok lemme ask 2 quickies then. If I want to pvp should I just make a character on Seige and start over or is there enough on Atlantic?

I saw someone say mage/necro is great for Pvp and Champ spawns.. I dont even know what champ spawn are lol. Can I do champ spawns with the 8Th Age installed or will I need the upgrade some expansions? Do you typically pvp and do champ spawns in basic armor so if you die you dont lose the good stuff?

Lot has changed ! Oh man yes it did...

Now you have a wonderful feature *ahem* called insurance, which somehow makes the banker make a perfect replica of your most valuable items with magic everytime for like 600 gp a piece, it dosen't work if you really think hard about it because you wish it to work (go figure)... so its better not to think about it and let it do its work !

I'm not sure about which expansion covers the champ spawns, I am limited to the second age myself... and I really wonder why would they keep anyone so limited to make a little extra money, I wonder how much subscribers they lost by charging for their patches. I brought the game twice and paid for my subscription faithfully for 3 years, and not only the completely DELETED my account without any hard feelings, they seem pretty content with me not being able to go into tokuno and malas. They told me they needed space on their hard drive... talk about laughing in peoples face ! My characters freakin fits on a floppy disk, my ass they needed space, I even worked for them almost a full year as a companion and this is how they thank me

This being said, the game is very well made, there are tons of combinations for pvp and pvm which are creat, champion spawns are like a place where a special spawn takes place and takes a team to vainquish, at the end of many spawn waves you have a big boss which drops big items... much like in diablo. Umm yeah.

You're going to have much fun to discover all the new things in there, but you might want to do some reading before making a character, some skills really work good together now (necro has many shapeshifting forms that combine well with different builds for example) etc...

I made about 1000 gp in 3 weeks... people aren't very generous these days, I'm kidding a little tho ; I have friends who want to give me big checks but I'm kinda paranoid they brought the money and I end up with dirty hands... oh yah , siege is good, but there seems to be plenty of pvp action in fel in atlantic...

WHAT LACKS IS THE RP PVP, but I THINK that MAYBE Cear has an ace up his sleeve and he's just teasing the populace... well I hope "they" do.

You can do champion spawns, if you can go to the lost lands.. which I think everyone can? If you are into PvP'ing primarily then I would just wait till SA before buying an expansion. I don't think it is that important to buy the other expansions. I just can't recall if you need SE for making a necromancer or not.

You can easily play the game without ever going to Malas or Tokuno, both of which are inferior land masses compared to the Felucca/Trammel.

You'll need something AOS or after if you want to do the Necro, but you can probably do well without it for another month or two till SA comes out. SA is adding another new dungeon - which will have some PVP areas so you may really want that one.

Well I re activated and I am a bit overwhelmed. My bank and characters are FULL of stuff I need to go through.

I placed a new house to help sort it all out but I have 2 questions about it:

1) Why doesn't logging out in my house log me out right away? I thought if you logged in your house you could log another character in right away?

2) Does every character on my account automatically have access to the house and all locked down/secured items?

For number 1 usually it only doesn't log you out right away if you were in combat recently.

Are skills maxxed at 100 until you buy a scroll to bring them beyond that? I see some of mine are at 115, 109... did I buys power scrolls for those?

You need Mondain's Legacy to PVP anymore, it gives you alot of uh, bonus slots for armor and mods.

PVP Wise, usual guaranteed fights are at Fire->Despise, Yew Gate, & on occasion HOT Castle (By Chaos shrine.), I would suggest playing ATL & Maybe shadowing Siege, because they're both hot & cold..

Other than that, wb.

Looks like I have 715 points to work with. I came up with this but have 80 points left over. Any suggestions? I was thinking Hide maybe? Not sure....

I read poison + Magery should = 200 which is why I have poison at 85. Would bringing this higher be worth it? I carry a boomstick and a shield of invulnerability. That would make wrestling worthless, right? Should I lose the boomstick and shield and use a slayer spellbook? I have to equip the book to do double damage, correct?
