I was just curious how many people would like the thieves to have more freedom in fel, around insurance, and how many people have other opinions?

oh, and apparently html doesnt have that many freedoms here

give the thiefs some love for ^*(^&& sake.
they do 90% of the work in factions and cant get kill points, so they can never ride thier horses or wear the armour ect ect ect.
the people who do all the work and arnt afraid to die to help their guilds win never carry any kill points, hence they NEVER get any of the perks.

so if the new 'perks' are decided like the old and current ones are (by killpoints) .... well that the heck is the point of doing it then?

Yes. Love for thieves. Oh, and healers. Why not?

Biggest problem for thieves is the item based AoS system & insurance.

Second Biggest is the fact that someone made the decision to be able to skip back and forth between Trammel & Felucca instead of making Trammel only shards and Felucca only shards.

I'd fix both of them but my time machine's broken.

Faction thieves don't count. They are a little better than crates, but not much. Oh and the last time the devs gave thieves "a bone". We got Doom, LOL...la

The last time I used my thief was when there was a big protest at the Fel Brit bank a few years ago I dont remember what the protest was about but they where all crying when I stole their stuff. Sorta Ironic bring more action back to fel and cry that thieves are ruining the fun.

yes, chad, insurance in the real world doesnt even stop thieves, if you pay a deductable, it just gives you the money to replace what you lost, or it fixes it... this stuff uo has is more like superglue. and in a world of magic, and dragons, and rogues, and murderers, i dont think superglue is fitting

Hey, I taught my 13 year old how set her last target macro, she failed at her first attempt, but laughed at the guards. She said, "Hey! That's no fair, they one hit me". I told her about how the game used to work when the guards would chase you. There is another old option I would love to see back in the game. It didn't happen often, but once in a while, you could actually get away from them...la

Here’s an idea that, most has been suggested before but, might be an interesting discussion.

Thieving used to fill multiple purposes…
- Make money
- Hinder targets
- PvP interaction
- Grief

Revisiting stealing item for INS
- Thief successfully steals an item
- If that item is insured is insured then…
- - Mark loses 600 gp in ins and that item is sent to Marks bank box(Hindering the target).
- - Thief receives 300 in their pack(Money maker, all-be-it not the same as reselling a Silver Vanq, but more than is made currently). The other unaccounted-for 300 is sunk.
- - Mark or another ‘noble’ can then chase down the thief and retrieve the 300 in the thief’s pack(PvP interaction).
- - (Griefing must be initiated manually but the player)

Feel free to pick apart as desired.

Personally I don't PvP so take this input with a grain of salt... I prefer Kosher!

oh, on another personal note, I would like to see stealing from mobs reinabled, to a point. Only repond and other humanoid-shapped mobs that might carry gold/items via pack/pockets such as Lichs, Lizardmen, Meer(and their counterpart that I cannot see to name at the moment), Lady of the snow, red NPCs(ninja, evil mages))

To be honest, most thieves don't care about the cost of the item they steal. If I could get chased from stealing a single pot, reg or band aid...I would, but for the most part, the marks don't care until the item has value to them.

I play a thief for the chase, not the item. Most items I steal either go in the garbage, or I sell them back to the original owner...la

Yeah, I remember quite a few with that frame of mind. So, for you, the key would be to make it worth while for the Mark to give chase...

...Well, actually, what you need is more marks to begin with, but that is a whole other idea.

Do you think the 300 would be enough to cause marks to give chase? The 600/300 come from the ins cost of dying and keeping all items.

the problems
1 is that alot of stuff is blessed from start
2 no limit on insured items
3 items cant be stolen, but loted when player are dead.

I would seriously doubt it. Back in the day, we rarely stole anything that lower than a force weapon. Anything less than that, usually ended up with them trotting back to the bank and getting another item of similar value.

Reinstalling perma grey would make me happy at this point, and it doesn't touch other player insuance rules. It's an old system that imo, would be able to be reinstalled rather quickly...la

i used to disarm and steal people vanquishing weapons while they were fighting other people
ive stealthed to countless harrowers/champ spawns and stole scrolls from the protector in the past, now everything has changed, passive detect is extremely lame i dunno why it even exists, u used to be able to never get revealed walking next to anyone while stealthing unless u walked through them... and the last strand my thief had was 40 hp regen a while back which they decided to nerf to 18 for some reason, totally screwed that char over

How about changing Item ID to insurance auditing. If partial success It raises the insurance value of an insured item for a game day. If full success it removes the items insurance. Making an items stealable/lootable.

You can work this skill through togling insurance on items in your inventory. Only once gmed can you apply for an auditors license and begin to use on other players.

You do realize there would be much wailing and and gnashing of teeth if the devs even suggested something like that...la

I think a good way to help thieves is to only allow people to insure what they equip. up to x amount if items one can wear if perhaps they have a blessed item in that spot it would count as -1 insured item. and can only insure that perticular spot so one cant not wear cloths and insure 4 other weapons.

I don't think the community would agree on the insurance bit. It has been debated over and over again.

The only solution instead of forcing would be an option in function. In example - another facet.

One thing that might be ok with everyone now would be a few thief quests. I know it is not a fun as stealing from another player, but would be fun to some.

Yeah, it would be fun for the crates who enjoy stealing from lock boxes and doom...la

Well it depends on the environment set on how challenging the quest would be. In the old days I played primarily as a town thief. Stealing from players, npc's ya and a few crates as well. There was always a danger.

But as the quest itself as a reward the reward would be a unique item out of a random selection.

Ewwww, goody a quest tiem. *claps*

Do it again, do it again.

No thanks, I'd just rather get chased by people trying to re-attain their lost pixels from me...la

That depends on where the quest is placed at...

If the facet had fel rules without insurance, but had a bonus of say.. Advanced skill gain and other goodies like maybe a faction or OC system to boot, who knows.
