Theoretically Speaking

Imagine a perfect UO... Or as perfect as you could get while still being in the realm of possibility.
There would be very little cheating, no 3rd party programs, and gold/item sellers would be fought against. When paging a GM you wouldn't get a link to a website that does not help your situation, and there was something called support.

Lets say that playing this game would delete everything on your account except for characters and skills.
Would you do it? Keeping in mind losing all your items, and house?

It is a hard decision for me, because I still have things that date back to 1998, that hold a lot of sentimental value. I would lose a lot of memories but for the good of the game I love I think I would do it.

What about you?

ps. this will never come true, I realize that. I just want to see how many people would trade in their items they worked hard for, for a new and improved UO.

NO, I have played too long to get what I have now.
If I had to start over why would I stay?

No offense, but this would be just like merging shards.
Wipe every thing out and start over again.
Power players and the few cheats that would be left would still control everything.
So what would the difference be?

That's harsh.....

I've played for years ...... and my biggest joy in game is design and deco as well as RP....

So your asking me if I want to give up everything I own to be somewhere and have nothing hope that the RP city my friends and I have built could be rebuilt... but have nothing by way of all the gifts and rewards we have all received over the years? I don't think so.


Now if you said we could perhaps renew the servers in such a way that all the gifts, rewards and presents you received would be given again such as the heritage tokens I "paid" for....... the Spring deco tokens I paid for..... the other items I paid for..... like the shadow furniture.... and the like cause I'd be hosed if I were out all those things I paid good money for...... it's one thing to wipe out all the arties and all the supplies and resources that could easily be reobtained but to take away things that folk have actually paid good money for ...... NO.And some of us have kept many of our presents, rewards and things along the way.

I think there are some who don't care for such things but as for me I keep, use and treasure many of those things. Besides you have any idea how long it took me to get a full collection of Reindeer? or Mini house deeds?

I'd have to say that having a rebirth like your talking I don't think I'd go for that..... though there is only one possible thing that would get me to agree to do something like that..... if EA/UO built a shard specifically designed for role-play. One where everything was craftable..... down to rugs, ladders, and many other items, where there is only ONE pre-existing town and it has almost NO npcs. A shard where the people build the towns..... they build the shops and they supply the shops..... a shard where thieves and murderers are dealt with by the people..... where there are consequences for your actions but where you can still opt to be a thief.... or a murderer... but you can also be a true paladin... a guard, a detective, and a Knight. But that's not bloody well likely to occur..... so keep dreaming and I'll keep my dream of the "perfect" UO.

I intend to play UO in the one or other form for a decade or more, just doubt it will be with EA.
