The top 25 largest guilds in UO

I am not certain there is a way to view guild numbers in list form since MYUO disappeared years ago. The current relaunch of MYUO beta only allows for a search and does not provide any lists. The old MYUO use to list both the largest guilds on each shard as well as the game. They also kept track of a list of guilds who had "warred" or "highlights" to other guilds.

Do you guys think we could put together a current list of say... the top 25 largest guilds in UO? Perhaps we could input this information on the content side of Stratics, or better yet, perhaps the new MYUO will include this feature.

Id be really interested to see it listed again via myuo. I always liked going through and checking the top guilds... Would love to see a guild history on players too, not just what guild they are in but what guilds they have been in the past and for how long.

I am more interested in the 25 oldest guilds that are still active. that sort of thing appeals to me more then zerg size!

Aye, there are some massive guilds with hundreds of members but I would bet not even half of them are still active and play.

On Atlantic the biggest guild has been UWF for years, they technically have thousands of members, but at least 95% of those members haven't actually logged in within the last year, in a lot of cases within the last 10 years.

I agree that the most active guilds would be more interesting than purely which is the biggest.

The wheel of time (TWT) is large, active, and old. 112 charcters on since august 1rst. 12 people online as im posting this. around since 2000.

I don't think I could be a GL of a huge guild with a lot of inactive members. I'd really want to go to the last page of the guild roster ad start kicking out everyone that hasn't logged in for the past year. That would be my deadline for staying in the guild.

Okay. Let's try to compile a list of
a. most active guilds and
b. largest guilds.

Many of you bring valid points on "a." taking priority today, but let's include "b." as it is still relevant from a historical standpoint. We can even throw in some once large guilds that had dwindled down over time. It's good to talk about this stuff once in a while so that knowledge does not die through a lack of willingness to share.

Why? If theres no negative impact to them being there... they may come back. Having that guild be there might be nice for returning players.

One of the issues of never kicking anyone is that a lot of the time people sell their accounts when they quit, and every so often the person that buys the account goes through any guilds the characters are in stealing, afk killing, and stuff like that. It happens to every big guild eventually.

We have a system within ours that takes measures to prevent such things. Everyone who has been added has their alt's on record. When members have been inactive for so long they are given "inactive" titles. Proper communication among the members and emissaries keep this in check, so that when inactive players finally log in, we catch them and ensure it is indeed them logging in. While the system is not flawless, it is indeed more secure than adding anyone willy-nilly.

We also do a trial period for recruitment (which some have expressed to be ridiculous) which ensures that a grown adult would have to put in a week's worth of time "faking" in order to infiltrate. They must also participate within this time or the trial period takes longer. Yes we have had several "spies" make it in, but out of those several, all have been identified and one even fessed up one time and decided that he would rather be in our guild after playing with the group for a while.

When MyUO used to list the largest guilds in the game and the largest guilds by size, the rankings were based on the number of guild members who had been active within the last 90 days or so and those were also the only guild members you could see when you clicked to see the guild member listing on MyUO.

Zuckuss, looking at one of those old threads, a few people said the old site only listed/counted characters that had been active in the last 30 days, so ignore where I said 90 days above.

Sorry for yet another post but the pages you can jump to from this page on the uoguide.com website may interest you as well, Zuckuss: http://www.uoguide.com/Shard . Scroll down to the "List of Shards by Region" section of the page and try each shard link. A few of the shards have a "guilds" page on the uoguide.com website (e.g., Atlantic, Europa), but it looks the listings are likely from a few years ago. Rupert Avery also had a website running a few years ago (2011-2012 or so) where you could list your guild's information. Unfortunately, it seems that the website (uoguilds.com) is no longer functional and the Facebook page associated with it looks like it last had info posted to it in 2012.

Edit: I did finally get the uoguilds.com website to load. It was just taking a long time.

I would rather see something about alliances. The alliance I'm in has a ton of smaller guilds in it.

As far as old guilds go I hold the Yew Town Council which has been around for a VERY long time.

Yes there are a lot of members but 3 log-in in the last 7 days is NOT an active guild.

Lake Superior! The guild has been around 13+ years. It died down for many years, but picked up heavily the past 6-8 months.
Field 8-12 average
15+ on a solid day.
Easily 30+ still active players.
A lot of returning vets.

They are active. They bank at the Abbey and do weekly hunts and events as a guild and crafter day every sunday for the shard for years now. Gates to that are from the Britain bank.
