The Super Mega Poconos Getaway..

Well the time has come that in two weeks I'll have my Jeep PAID OFF.
So it's time to live on the wild side for a little bit. I had a vacation day left before I would lose it, so I put in for November 10th, 2008. What is a guy to do with a Monday off? Why not go to the Poconos on Sunday and spend the night? Yeah Why Not! This isn't just any last minute wild and crazy super mega Pocono Getaway, this is a celebration of paying off my car loan.
So I punched up the Mount Airy Casino & Resort website. Checked out the rooms. Well they all look very nice, but this is the Super Mega Getaway, so I booked myself a King Suite...

Bumping this baby up! Wow what a day I'm having. Lady luck is shining down on me. So I got here around 2pm, had the $21.95 buffet, which was good. I loaded up on shrimp scampi, mmmm. I then gambled a bit, and then I went to the hotel lobby to check in. Well right at 4pm they decided to only staff one person for about 50 people checking in. Luckily I was close to the beginning, but still took 40 minutes. Got my key and went up to the suite. Wow, it's nice, I took a lot of pics which I'll post up tomorrow probably when I get home. Anywho, then I went back down and gambled a bit. My biggest hit was 900 credits on a quarter machine, which cashed me out at $247.25. I was satisfied with this, knowing that I had a cushion to fall on if I blew the rest of my cash. Not wanting to spend more, I went and grabbed some soda and snacks and logged into TT for the Sunday night festivities. The Wifi here is probably faster than at home, so it was smooth sailing. Well I decided to skip CJ, watch the end of Amazing Race, and go back down just to see if I could hit again. Since it is a Sunday night, it was still busy, but you could get on the WOF machines. Those are like you have to stand in line when it's busy. I never got to spin the wheel, but I got a 5X Pay on (2) Red 7's. The woman beside me was like "That's a big one!", yeah $154.25. SWEET. I was like "Yeah I'm taking that, cashed out, and walked away". So with what I have in cash, I'm about $200 ahead. I'm not even touching a machine in the morning. I'm going to the redemption machine, getting my $400 in vouchers, and I'm heading home! I'm not even falling for the expensive room service, McDonalds down the road will suit me just fine.. ...Also edited to add from last night's fun: I was playing this Hot Shot machine and I hit the bonus round and I swear it said $4500 and I got the combination and the machine started going crazy. Thinking that I won, I became calm and this weird woman came up to me and was all excited for me. Here it was only a penny machine and I won 4500 credits. It was still nice, but $4500 woulda rocked!

So I'm sleeping away in the pillowtopped pimped out bed and the tv came on at 5:30am, uggh, so I flip it off. 5 minutes later it comes back. It must have an alarm clock on it, I don't know but it eventually stayed off. Then I woke up about 8:30, showered, and I took Little Sadie and Electroflaps advice and did go down one last time this morning. I went back to the bank of WOF machines. I ended up winning $60, but I put $60 in, so I broke even! I took my vouchers and cashed them out. The Benjamins flew out and I discretly put them in my wallet. I made my way upstairs and sorted my money on the desk. I had $498 with about $5 in odd change. So in the end I made about $200. With the room and gas to get there, I'm really only down $80. It sure was fun though! I'm not sure if I'll do it again, only to jinx myself, but hey I can say I did it.

Sweet!!! I like the looks of that place. Is the casino big? What would you compare it to AC wise. Also, what is WOF machines? I am not familiar with that term. Glad to hear you had a lucky time!

The casino has I think 2500 machines with electronic poker/blackjack tables. Table games are not legal in PA yet. Compared to AC, a lot of people have compared it to a "Mini Borgata". It's one of the biggest in PA though. The WOF are the "Wheel of Fortune" machines. Never got one to spin, but they still paid. I just came back from the bank, I put it there before I was tempted to spend it..

Oh Wheel of Fortune! I should have figured that out. LOL! I like that game though I rarely get spins on it. I think the most I've walked away on that one is $50. I usually lose. LOL! I will definitely have to look into going there. Maybe I can sneak a trip in before my birthday trip to AC in Feb.

LOL I actually played Toontown in between gambling spurts. That's the thing about that hotel. You are either gambling, eating expensive food, or are in your room. They are working on a pool and golf course, but those are not open yet. They did have a nightclub, but it wasn't too hopping when I was there. If I didn't take a break, I probably would have lost money. It was a good time though.
