What does this mean?

Yep. I didn't know this limitation. Just returned to UO.

I wish there was a way to visually identify these items so I could just unravel them. More than once I'll see something really cool on a vendor I'll want to save to imbue because it has high SSI and I figure it will cut down on costs. I get it home and get the message indicating the item cannot be imbued because it's too old.
