Is there any way to kill it or make it go away or even reduce the effects of it's damage? I cannot express how much I really hate it.

I was stealthing so ...
What I did was just keep moving and not stand in one place to long. I am not sure how it finds you but it does seem to have quite the skill to find a victim. Also when I had noticeable damage and was in an open space I would make sure I was healed up.

shadow dweller, comes through walls!..holy light seems to work well

I saw somewhere that either Holy Light or Dispel Evil Chiv spells will take care of it. I think it was Holy Light.
I hate it too. It scares me.
There are several ways to deal with these pesky critters - they aren't invulnerable in any way, they just can't be targeted (which is a really creepy ability).
I'll definitely try holy light! Thanks 
i think all and only AOE attacks kill it.
