I played from 97-2000 then left for eq which I played until 2007. Bored and have a little bit of down time, looking for mildly entertaining pvp:gun: and servers with strong communities (no thanks SP, I can hear the bell toll all over the internet).

I logged in a long time ago (2008ish) and saw people running around in wild neon colors, translucent beetles and llamas, and pvp seemed to simply consist of level 2 spell spam and if you were melee it seemed like you had to be an archer otherwise there was no viable method to actually catch and hit someone. Is this still the case? Is there any plan to address the fact that UO PvP seems like UO Track when all other games with pvp in them at least have a workable method to actually mez/para a target?

What is pvp like atm?
What is a server with a strong RP community and no pvp? (and what is with all the rp guilds in wars?)
What is the most populated server?
What are some servers with good population levels where you can find an active pvm guild and occassionally run into some pvp? [this would be my ideal place, but I know that it probably doesnt exist ;p ]

Im not looking to be number one, just looking to have some fun. Heh, I used to say that all the time in college:(

Atlantic is the most populous shard with a good PVP community, some RP, and several guilds that mainly PVM, but don't run from PVP. Sounds like it might be a good choice for you.

atlantic best of east, pac best of west, and europa if well, in europe.

UO PvP is pretty Unique... What other games allow the RPG aspect of Min / Maxing combined with working hard to build crazy suits / templates with such things like 0.25 seconds reactions times? It's RPG counterstrike for PvP which is what makes it so fun...

A lot of things at the moment are revolving around the new mysticism templates and high DPS ninja characters at least a lot of the individual pvpers or small group pvpers are reliant on those templates.

Group fighting is about the same as it's always been either you mass field choke points, or you're syncing the most useful targets first then make the rest scatter. The new healing spell from mysticism is making group fights last a lot longer then ever before since everyone can heal though any sort of status aliment now making the tactics to prevent x healing very minimal.

Spell Plague bushido characters are almost on par with the old honor lightning striking archers. First hit's 75 dmg then the next hit you're face first in the ground. Just now it takes 3 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds.
