If you think this thread is a sad idea, don't bother reading the rest.
Like many I rely on being able to quite simply just play Ultima Online to update my site and manage my guild. However, in the past week playing Ultima Online has been a virtually impossible task for many players across multiple servers.
The issue has been addressed-- although lightly-- by EA/Mythic. They've acknowledged it, sure. However, the bottom line fact of the matter is that Electronic Arts/Mythic has not been able to solve a lag issue on their game servers in nearly a week. It's affecting the supposed "hundreds of thousands of subscribers" [pulled from an EA comment a while back] that Ultima Online has.. although this number is likely severely inflated.
The community of UO is dying. The game is incredibly overpriced at $12.99. Since the game moved ship to California from Austin in-game Game Master support has been basically-- scratch that-- absolutely non-existent. Support e-mails are never, ever, ever responded to on a case-by-case basis with anything custom. Predefined and pre-written responses are all we get. The clients receive updates but they often cause more problems than solutions. Servers-- most notably Europa last week-- are still being reverted when issues come up and players are losing their items... Have I named enough reasons why Ultima Online is where it is?
Now, this lag problem. The first day it was a slight issue. The third day it started to get frustrating. Now, it's just downright annoying. If any other game like World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Eve Online, or Lord of the Rings, for example, had a lag problem as severe as this, you'd bet your last dollar it'd be fixed in no time.
So, with this I'm officially calling this shambles of a time off if the lag we've all been experiencing isn't fixed by my next billing cycle. Although I have a lot of current UO projects in the works along with many in-game belongings and happenings, $13.00/month to watch a slideshow is bollocks.
Sorry. Anyone else with me?
