Its a flat difficulty check. Though since you don't have a chance to fail there's that slight bonus in chance to gain compared with barding a mob at the same difficulty. (Not to mention you can do it much quicker with no skill time out.)

I'm just not much of a pumpkin fan. Maybe a carved watermelon instead. Though lighting a candle. In a watermelon may prove quite interesting if properly prepared.
Maybe a hot pink and neon green carved watermelon. Working like A purple pot.
