(Player News) The Legendary Charybdis

Tonight saw champions from all over the land answer the call of Captain Nemo Herringwary (Aron Swordsmaster) and rally together in the hunt for the elusive Charybdis. Few Britannians have had the chance witness to this legendary creature of the deep!

This time the monster would not escape their nets! Boarding the Warship Lord Blackthorn's Revenge and Orcish Swoop Gorkamorka our brave adventurers set sail into the waters surrounding Moonglow. The waters stirred with unrest below the two ships as the anchors were dropped and nets plunged into the water; dragging the beast out from it's slumber.

It had begun as tentacles arose from the waters to tower over the ship, latching onto the hull and sweeping the mighty warriors across the deck. A gruesome head followed with eyes filled with hunger and death, enough to make even the bravest of fighters shake in their boots.

The battle raged on for quite some time, the sound of cannons could be heard for miles as cannonballs peirced the air, slamming against the hardened carapace of the Charybdis; but it barely made a scratch. Screams chilling to the soul and war cries echo'd across the decks as the defenders of Britannia met the vicious sea creature head on with magic and steel! The Charybdis deployed powerful water magic of it's own, sending tidal waves crashing against the warship; washing poor men and women overboard to be forever lost to the abyss of the ocean. In an epic fight the ship was taking too much damage, being pushed further and further out to sea, a new struggle to stay afloat had just begun.

It became uncertain of who was sinking who; both the creature and the united champions of the realm were locked in a power struggle of desperation. Lord Blackthorn's Revenge lay battered and splintered in the water, barely able to stay afloat. She moaned and creaked as one of the mast's came crashing down onto the deck but she wasn't the only one damaged.
The fighters could now see that the Charybdis was mortally wounded and it's time in the realm of the living coming to the end, the time to strike was now! But the monster knew death awaited it and as the warriors unleashed their last volley of spells, arrows and cannonfire, so did the Charybdis throw down it's own last stand; launching an immense wave straight at the front of the ship.....

But from the waves emerged the Lord Blackthorn's Revenge and it's Crew, wounded, battered, bruised, barely standing but holding their heads high with victory! The beast of old had been bested by the Heroes of new! A long night of drinking and well earnt rest was on the agenda, this would be one for the story books!

(Thank you for hosting it Aron and the others who donated the Charybdis bait! Was immensely fun, that is definately the coolest boss in the game but just a shame the loot sucks lol. Would of been nice if the creature graphic was actually a bit bigger, the tentacles were very small and the main body of it was tiny, i was expecting something to rival the size of the ship and be more scary looking haha, but oh well can't have everything. :))

Slight correction, as I was very tired by event end last night and didn't quite get what you were asking... the ork sloop is called the Gorkamorka, I thought you were asking what my ork character was called :p

It was indeed most fun; and with him appearing first time I hope to host another when our lovely bait - donaters are available to come... I think a smaller ship with cannon removed might make more sense, due to cheaper repairs and more ability to get within range of Charybdis; what slowed us down was his getting under your huge prow and staying there, and thus out of range too quickly, but otherwise the Blackthorn's Revenge did sterling work, especially for the following Osireadon appearance; he always seems to be near by when we hunt for Charybdis, perhaps those two be dating? And we interupt their crabby canoodlings which is why he's always so enraged when we fish him up... could be why his claw is so engorged too! :p

I have been fishing Charybdis with Britannia ship and Tokuno ship and the Britannia ship was taking very little damage both times, while the Tokuno one was very close to be lost. We (RAAM guild) didnt do well with cannons as the ships were turied around and Charybdis dived under the boat sometimes so it was hard to aim at all. We gave up on using cannons after the first time, it was easier without them..and cheaper.
This was the first time I was on a Scalis hunt from a boat and it surely was more challanging than throwing the nets from the docks of Buccaner`s or Magincia. Looking forward to next time!
