The House Hunting Theif

Hello all!

I am the house hunting thief. I come here with news that when you wake up in the morning and stumble out of your bed, you walk towards the Hearth Fire to cook you some bacon, you notice, your chests have been ransacked, and your rares robbed clean, it was me the house hunting thief.

You think to yourself and scream "Guards Ive been robbed!!"

The Royal Guard shows up to your house, and examines the scene. "Well I see your mistake! You left the chest set to anyone!"

You sit there and think for a bit, as the guard leaves. Then at once it comes to you! That day when you were helping a neighbor you set your box free. Neglecting to set it back to owner only.

You sulk and you cry, hell bent on revenge, but you will never find me, for I am the house hunting thief.

Id rather stick forks in my eye. How boring can checking chests for "anyone" settings be.

Really? You must have never tried it then. When splitting into tram/fel killed the thief skill thief RP's had to find a new way to steal. I can do this on any facet. You'd be surprised how many houses in fel are public anyone chests!!!!

Run home everyone and secure your belongings!! For I am watching!

Really? You must have never tried it then. When splitting into tram/fel killed the thief skill thief RP's had to find a new way to steal. I can do this on any facet. You'd be surprised how many houses in fel are public anyone chests!!!!

What I don't understand is why you would come here and inform everyone of your work. It wasn't till recently did I start telling people just how my guild on atlantic looted so many houses pre-security changes and that was over 10 years ago now. (Legal looting folks, no exploit break-ins. Don't get the wrong idea.)

Although, I will admit that there's a part of me happy to see some form of the old playstyle still exist. No matter how mind numbingly boring it must be. rolleyes:

Seriously though, this made me think of a time when I was sitting, waiting for an IDOC to fall, and had double-clicked a chest, saw the couple of million gold checks sitting there, and thought, "I can't wait to get those when this falls!" not even realizing that I'd been able to open the chest.

So as I'm waiting, someone else walks up and loots them...

I actually laughed my ass off.

You mean you never came back to the place of the crime? Gloating in UO is very much fun. After crime gloating is where I got the most of my most favoritist quotes of all time, especially in Trammel (when I played there). It dates back to when looting in Trammel was legal. OMG, the "I'll kill you on my main" will never stop bringing a smile to my face, even with it being years since I actually played on a regular basis...la

Because there is only a small percentage of us that use stratics daily enough to see this post. Second, people will always mess up eventually, Third, you said it, it is nice to know others have been able to adapt and keep the play style alive! In a game where we "remember how it once was" the best thing is knowing some things can "still be"!

And like ChReuter said this is all legal stealing, I do not condone anything of the sort pertaining to hacks, exploits etc etc.

Reminds me of the good ol days where you had to lock your house doors. (they were unlocked by default) I placed one of those old 3 room houses with 2 doors and I only locked one of the doors, the other wasn't. Next day I logged in my house was completely empty. (No lockdowns or secures back then)

Nowadays all my houses are private, that at least stops the exploiting.

Since all containers are set to Owner Only by default its not really an exploit, it is taking advantage of stupid people lol And yes ALL MY HOUSES are set to private roflmao

Ha who says? I just got done looting another house, about 30 mil worth in items in 30 minutes of searching. Who was it that said this wasnt profitable? I say start seraching!
