I have discovered that there was a change made to this game during my absence (I came back to the game in January) that, from what I can tell, did not exist before. The change is this: when you initiate combat inside of a house, you are kicked out of the house if you move. Now, my test case for this is a house in Felucca. I attacked my companion, was flagged grey, and once I moved, I was kicked out. We are not in the same guild. Now, what is the purpose of this mechanic? I cannot say, but what I can say is that it goes completely against the spirit of this game. Let me try to explain what I am doing: I want to host a joust event, with some unique kind of rules. These rules require the use of a Feluccan house, and using an arena would be illogical, given the rules. Here are the reasons:
-The rules prohibit death. I cannot do this in an arena because the fight ends when someone dies.
-The arena fights are timed. Understandably so, but it's easier to manage the fights on my own time and not the arena's time.
-The arena is not built as well for observers as the Feluccan house I have set up for this precise purpose.
-Being in Felucca, anyone can participate in the fight without having to be guilded.
-Being in a house, I can ban griefers.
I've done this joust once before, it was great fun:
But now I cannot do it, so long as this mechanic exists. I request that this be changed back to the way it was. The wonderful thing about this game is how players can create innovative ways to play the game that were never intended or imagined by the creators. However this cannot be done when the players' hands are being tied behind their back by arbitrary rules. As far as Felucca is concerned, there is no reason why, given that every other facet is non-PvP, that this one solitary facet cannot feature a robust, truly open-world philosophy.
Please change this mechanic. Thanks for reading.
