The Griefing of the Governors' Council Meeting

I am at the Governors' Council meeting and I'm watching a certain guild grief it. What's particularly disappointing is that this is a guild that used to do a fair amount other than griefing, a guild that I once thought I might apply to on an alt.

They argue that there's too much RP....Well, the Governors' Council clearly is intended to mostly be an RP event. That's really quite clear, though some insist on not getting it. They do not need to be here if they do not RP. People at the "regular" EM events consistently RP -- people who you wouldn't expect to RP.

They ask the Event Moderators for things that clearly are matters for the UO team. They ask for stuff like Corgul-style bosses and like the new Shadowlord bosses. That's just plain dumb, to ask EVent Moderators for that kind of stuff. The difference between EMs and the permanent team members is really not difficult to understand.

They ask for events, as though they are not aware that events occur. There are 7 events scheduled for this month alone, 6 if you don't count the Governors' Council, 1 of which is even in Felucca. And that's about average for our EMs. These EMs have been the most-consistent I'm aware of. They ask for events for everyone, well, here is the Great Lakes event schedule:

• Tuesday, September 3rd, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Royal Spy Mission
The Place Between
• Tuesday, September 10th, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Royal Britannian Guard
Bright Eyes
• Friday, September 13th, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Friday the 13th
The aging caretaker wishes to speak with you.
• Tuesday, September 17th, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Royal Spy Mission
Bidding War
• Friday, September 20th, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Council Meeting
The fourth meeting of the Council.
• Sunday, September 22nd, 8:00 p.m. CDT, (Felucca) No Place Like Home
Ancient evil finds a path into Felucca.
• Tuesday, September 24th, 8:00 p.m. CDT, Royal Spy Mission
Unmake and Break

Note that there's events on various days. There's one every Tuesday and that consistency is remarkable. It's been going on for years. The events are remarkably well-attended, people go with the storyline who don't consistently RP, and that says something. It means that the consistency works. Means that the consistency involves people. The consistency helps. There's no good reason, at all, to think or consider that it doesn't help. Can't make Tuesdays? Well, look at the schedule. There's more events than the Tuesday ones.

They ask for more decoration and forget that there's been 8 entire worlds for the current story arc alone, each decorated to a remarkable degree. And, again, that is about average for these EMs.

They confuse the King of Britannia with being some kind of king of the game, as though there were actual, RL royalty running the game.

They say that the EMs are killing this shard but I have very rarely seen as many people online at once in recent years as I have at the GL's EMs' events. Not exactly "killing" anything save for my poor computer's processor because there's so many people there.

I could go on, but the overall thrust is clear. And it's sickening.

EMs of Great Lakes: Go on doing what you do, and I'll keep playing your events on one character or another. Galen's arc may or may not be coming to a slow close, but I've got other characters, and I'll be there, as will the members of Y, APEX, the RP community guilds, and many others. So many attend your events that it causes lag.

Guilds who would grief: Do something else. Plenty to do in this game.
