The Grandcluff Games

Holding an enormous stein of Ale, The large Tauren, Goriyus Grandcluff, was worried. Soon, transportation to Northrend would be available, and once in Northrend, Goriyus would have to fight newer and stronger opponents! Goriyus had hit level 70 a while back, and he had become a tad lazy, spending more time in Shattrath City than out in the wilderness fighting. "I need to get fit, I can't just go out and start killing things again when I'm like this" Goriyus thought aloud, sitting at his usual spot in World's End Tavern. Goriyus decided he would have to get back in shape, but he would make it interesting. The next week all of Outland knew of Goriyus' idea. He had put together a giant contest, with over a hundred events, including many different types of duels and numerous races. The competition would also have mental events for casters to compete in. The "Grandcluff Games", as they were now called, were to be open to both Horde and Alliance athletes. However, The games would take place in the plains around Thunderbluff. Many level 70's who shared Goriyus' thoughts on the new challenges awaiting them in Northrend immediately signed up, as well as many others that signed up in the spirit of competitiveness. All around there were people training. Goriyus himself was fond of a full-packs run from Ogrimmar to Thunderbluff to return him to his former prowess. It was a beautiful day when the Grandcluff games began, and the weather stayed favorable for the whole week of the games. There was sheer determination in the air, but there was also a light-hearted feeling of celebration. Every night, there would be singing and dancing, and the day's winners would be honored. By the end of the games, Goriyus himself had won first place in shooting, spear-fighting, unarmed battle, and rock - climbing, and everyone felt ready for Northrend, and it's king.
