Crystal Porter Ver. 6.1


The Crystal Porter is a helper program I wrote that allows you to use the Crystal Portal and Corrupted Crystal Portal veteran rewards without having to remember or look up the spellings of the locations (see picture below). It is a small Visual Basic Program that only sends text and an enter to the client. It does not interact with the data stream in any way.

Although this program is not an official UO program it is doubtful that anyone at EA will care.

The program is small (less than 33k) and should take little to no machine resources. I keep it minimized as i play until i need it and then alt tab to bring it up. When you start the program a form will appear that is simple and straight forward.

This is now the first non-beta release - version (6.1) - I have tested it on several windows operating systems with no problems. (vista and windows 7 will probably require that you run it as an administrator).

It should only require net framework 2 to run, so if you can run UO Cartographer you should have no problems running this version of the Crystal Porter.

I will be posting a non-beta version for the Enhanced Client in their forum but this version only works on the classic client.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

This program is copyright, but freeware. It may not be posted on other web sites without my permission.

It's a nice idea, but

1. It's got such a limited target audience that most people that would be interested probably never read this forum. Personally, I almost never use my portal any more except to go to Luna (an easy to make macro), since the BS 5-minute delay between escorts was added (prior to then, I was using it with multiple characters 5/day to deliver rescues from the Compassion Desert area for compassion gains).
2. A lot of people are slow to trust anything not officially approved (see the discussion over on Fishing & T-hunting forum about the Ship controlling program that is effectively UORudder redone for the EC).

We're passing some of the info for these over to someone to look at them, to ensure they are safe (much as we did for UO Cartographer), but it's low priority for the people doing so.
