we decided to let everyone play uo on xbox and playstation
we've decided to stop milking our player base out of countless thousands of dollars by shutting down all the servers.
We have decided to "create" a new store in game to OPENLY sell everything and anything UO, including selling openly, PS, SOT's, Alacrity scrolls, pre-finished characters, pets scrolled 120 and trained, and also landmasses. Also the fabled "Veterinarian Surgical Tool-Kit" so you can re-scroll and adjust skills on your pets. And on top of that EM shiny items! All for cripsy juicy RL almighty $$. 
This year, we will be celebrating Ultima Online's 23rd Anniversary with a retirement party!
BTW! We are proud to announce EA's newest MMORPG Browser Game, the spiritual successor of Ultima Online, reimagined by Richard Garriot, Tencent, and Bonnie Armstrong, working title Pew Pew Kitty Loot Box!

I would literally buy it myself just to prevent Bonnie from having it if that were the case. We've all seen what a godawful piece of crap the official forums are, and I could never let Stratics become that much of a joke

The big announcement is.....they are going to open an official auction site for players to sell their goods for real life money. Thus boosting subs by having people play to make cold hard cash.

People have been playing UO on Android devices for a decade.
This is nothing new and exciting.
Very simple to setup, featureless or tailored to your taste.
If this is the news, I hope it's better than what's already out there.
A clean full feature UI delivering a complete experience would be beneficial if produced properly.
Taking newer content such as vendor search into consideration, I wouldn't expect more than a glorified Microsoft Remote Desktop experience.
I am almost at the point that I am not sure that would be a bad thing! It would almost be worth it, to see, and listen to all the RMT people p*** their pants!
ROFLI suspect that the devs will give all of their RMT friends/cohorts advance notice though. They need to allow their gold seller buddies to cash out before they let the "general public" know, so they can get their kickbacks!

the big announcement is they are turning uo into a mobile game and u cant play for more then an hour without paying to extend ur play time.
I'm telling you a friend of mine and I thought UO should be marketed to Hoarders... they can hoard to their heart's content... without cluttering IRL and enjoy hoarding... when one account is full start another... they might save money in the long run and certainly be able to live in a clutter-free home and still enjoy hoarding... Win for UO and Win for Hoarders... then the TV show can do shows on in-game hoarding... going through people's in-game stashes...

UO has been bought by a Russian based company and now everything costs extra Housing - costs extra 15 per month, Champ Spawn access costs extra, Dungeon access 5 dollars a month per dungeon, Extra facet access 10 dollars per facet per month. Oh and UO will now be all in Russian/Cyrillic so you will have to learn Russian to be exploited to death.

I am hoping they are announcing the closure of UO as we know it and moving it to a platform where we all start again from scratch. Just the thing I need to quit for good and not worry about the wasted 18 yrs of stuff and what to do with it.

Nah it’s gonna be a long running “Farewell to Britannia” the vent arc that will lead to the 25th anniversary. EJ restrictions will be lifted and on Sept 24th, 2022 at 11:59 pm the servers will go dark.
I played so many Sierra games! The Leisure Suit Larrys', Red Baron, I was on the Sierra network when it began, playing Hoyle card games, Red Baron and others. I had a Roland MT 32 sound module and all their games were compatible. Had an amp and huge speakers from back in the day. Sound was awesome! My 286 computer monitor and sound probably cost $3000. Then a few months later the dang 386 came out so I have done the upgrade dance since the 80s.
Very cutting edge back then. They knew what they were doing.
I've still got my Leisure Suit Larry collection along with Kings Quest, Quest For Glory and Space Quest. And the kid used to play the police one - can't remember the name. I was in the The Realm beta test. What carnage! <grin> Then there was Yserbius online and offline.

Tinkers can now make sex change tokens using Corruption, a Runed Switch, and Taint.
Introducing a new Vendor Search Quest. Players will attempt to do a search for various items on player vendors. The RNG will determine if the search will succeed. Players who repeat the quest repeatedly will increase their chance of finding their "drop", although it will be less frequent than getting a cameo on the roof.
