The best part of being a parent....

sitting down at midnight on nov 1 after all the kids have gone to bed, loading up UO and pulling out a handful of candies liberated from the kids candy horde!

its gonna be a sugar rush induced night at the yew moongate!!!

I was going to say I just taught my 4 yr old how to spam my AI macro for me... Yes Sweetie your going to knock the Monster down! Just Make sure you keep pushing that button and that stays RED...!

My Kids (and wife) hate me for that, once their all tucked up in bed the Candie monster comes out and devours all their hard gotten Chocolate, and its only the toffee candie and Coffee flavored left...My Bad

For me, the best part is knowing that they're grown (and buy their own electronic gadgets now), so I don't have to compete for computer time any more.

My kids are all grown up... Like seeing my grandkids when they come over.... like it even more when they LEAVE... Love being able to buy what I want... stay up late when I want..... spend my money how I want... Enjoy buying the candy to give out and keeping all the rest of my "horde" to myself.... Yeah!

Though I have had my kids do stuff for me like.... "Well I have to work X Holiday...... I need you to go and log my characters in and out and get my stuff!!!! (kid) What? Why? (Me).... Because I have to work. (Kid) but.... that'll take forever! (me) Won't take long you can macro it.... just cut and paste the log in. (kid).. Fine..... but what do I get? (me) Me not mad. *grins* I'll get you something. (Me) Hey I gotta run to the store and get something for supper.... Sit here and work up my cooking. (kid) What? Why? (me) Well if you don't I'll have to sit here and do it... do you want to make supper and stuff? (Kid) NO! (me) Didn't think so ...... just sit there and cook those fish steaks one by one. (Kid) Mom..... I need you to fix this.... (me) What I'm in the middle of fighting this! Can it wait? (kid) ..... Please (Me) come here and watch my char... heal my pet... don't let my pet die. (show them my macro button for bandages) just hit that and target that. (kid) ok..

No Idea how many times over the years I had them keep me or my pet alive so I could find something, get something for supper, or whatever. That was back when they were younger and I had my computer in the Livingroom so I could watch what was going on while I played.... My son played back then on another shard..... (of course while I was at work).... My daughter never had any interest in UO or any games...... even console games..... My son could beat me at any game.... He had a way bigger and nicer house than I did back then. Probably more gold too. Now he plays FF14 or whatever..... I'm still at UO.

He'll still sometimes watch my char for me so I can run to the store but he won't log me in and out and get my gifts anymore..... but then I only had 2 accounts back then. I have 9 or so now and over 500 characters... He will NOT do that anymore.... He will log onto the DragCave for me though and get my eggs for the holiday.....

My hubby carefully remembered to buy sweets for the trick or treaters, knowing full well that we got none at all at our home last year.
Predictably, none came this year either, but you can bet the sweets weren't wasted
I expect he'll do the same again next year too.

Last two years we just got our own candies the day after Halloween. This year we got some nice stuff for the kids it rained and stormed so bad that nobody went out Poor kids.

Son went out and bought 3 of the bags of twix, 3 bags of snickers, and this huge bag of tootsie rolls mix. when Halloween was over that bowel was down to 3 hands full of the tootsie rolls... good thing I dislike the other stuff and wanted more tootsie rolls! Today the left over candy at the market will be 1/2 price.....

We had one whole trick or treater this year.. was rainy and cold outside =/. So he got a huge couple of handfuls of candy hehe. My wife and I will slowly devour the rest. She hid the bag from me so I wouldnt eat any before Halloween, but she was the one who ended up sneaking candy lol.

My little one is just over 3 months old, so no trick-or-treating yet... Next year =)

When my kids were young I used to do the usual Halloween things. However, they're not only grown up now, they're actually middle-aged. They don't live close by, so Halloween isn't one of those times we get together. And my neighborhood doesn't have many children left (mostly old houses in a too-close-to-downtown area... you know how that goes). So my Halloween was quiet and quite devoid of candy.

it's ironic I was asked by my son "mom... do you remember what I was for Halloween when I was a kid.." To me he will always be my little kid. Yes ...yes I do remember quite fondly of him as the various years passed by of the costumes he wore. When I was a child family was all near by, and when I say near by I mean within 50 miles of us. That's long time ago and over the years each part moved out of state or out of country. I wish all children could have that type of childhood where family was within hands distance.
To enjoy Halloween as I did. *nibbles on tootsie roll* Some treats will always be sweet

I bought candy "just in case" and interestingly didn't turn the porch light on. Only one group of 5 siblings dared to ring my door bell. In previous years, we've had dozens right it (with the light turned off). So we've been enjoying that bowl of Butterfingers and Reeces. Yum.
