I seem to only gain off of blue named npc's. Should I be able to gain off yellow named npc's as well?

It may be the yellow NPCs that give you a message indicating you can't get anything from them. If so, you won't gain from them either.

Yellow do work I used to do most my begging around the circle in Luna..... those NPC's are all Yellow.... however the Paladins are prudes and don't give things... and if you beg the same NPC too quickly he'll tell you where to go......
