Okay so something was mentioned about new 'vet' rewards. What I am sick to death of is 'vet' rewards. How many of you have seen some punk on a polar bear riding past who wasn't even born when ultima started? Making new vet rewards so a large contingent of 5 month players who bought old accounts can have metal dye tubs or jewelery sorting boxes while the ones who have actually been playing for a few years get squat is pointless. That's not a 'vet' reward, its a 'mommy has money' reward. Can't they figure out when an account is sold and stop insulting us/me with people who just started the game by buying an account lording over me about how L33T they are on their polar bear when they just started playing?! Yeah, give them more stuff!! there aren't that many 10 year players idiots! The ones who are 10 year players should get something if it is their original account, not some sold off crap.

And everybody who has been in here 2-4 years know that the whole thing is probably gone by 2016, so unless we 'buy' someone's account, the only people getting vet rewards are a very few old timers and a huge bunch of punks.

oh and all of you who seem to think i'm crying, take a cold shower.

What I am saying is who needs more vet rewards. The vet system is corrupted anyway.

and might i add for most of the rest of it i do know original players so any 'dye tubs' etc she can do that for me. I am defending people who don't have that luxury.

I'm interested in how you ascertain the age of a user based on the simple action of their online character moving across your monitor on a polar bear... that's a neat trick.

yea i think people who buy accounts are lame. In this day and ago of ultima i think most the accounts over 48months are bought for the most part. Its sad when the True Vets who dont spend real life money to buy stuff get left in the dark while people who spend real life money can blow past everyone who has been playing this game for years.

i still have 1 more year before i can ride a polar bear :-( so 2-3 more years before i can us a metal dye tub most likely :-(

Because some of us have been in guilds where some new player comes to game and we help them learn the game and get set up and a month or two later they buy a old account so they dont have to wait for vet rewards. I have got a number of people to start playing uo and seen a few buy old accounts to look like a vet and not a noob.

I have 1 friend who started playing Ultima 5 months ago and has a 7year account explain that? oh you cant? how about the fact he bought it.

Riding my bonded regular brown horse I kill guys on polar bears all the time.

Last I checked a polar bear doesn't give any advantage over a charger.

And since the charger is available to everyone, WHO CARES????

Unfortunately this is how the world turns. It is so frustrating at times to do something like struggle to save money for a car only to see some rich kid driving a new mercedez. Oh well, that is the way it goes.

nobody in there right mind wants a polar bear dear sir, but you don't just don your grandfather's army coat and receive his medals and say they are yours.

You know what's funny? Most of the issue with newbies playing bought old accounts must be on the Fel side....

Because, personally, every person I know that has bought an older account was someone who already had at least one account that had gotten several years of rewards, or was the family member of a long-time player, finally getting to play their "own" account at about the level of age of the account they'd been "leeching" off of for years. Often, the accounts were bought off friends that were leaving the game - and sometimes even sold back on their return.

On The PvM side of the game, "bought" accounts are little different than new ones, for the most part (just a few more items that the player could have gold-farmed to buy, and a few extra skill points that the new player could have hard-trained). If the person doesn't know how to use their skills on the PvM side of the game, it's not a show-stopper, and they have to learn. It's only on the PvP side where the imbalance comes up over and over again.

Kind of like all the white kids living in the suburbs who wear their pants around their kneecaps, call each other bro and homie, etc.

Just laugh at them, that's what I do.

Take comfort that at the end of the day people who simply bought a Vet account usually end up looking pretty foolish when they get waxed by a demon or worse a pvper riding a regular unbonded brown horse.

well put, I tend to not only fly off the handle I use it as a lever to launch me into space.

It is not a show stopper, I just think it is a little snarky. If you hadn't noticed, not saying anything about anything will result in nothing.

I don't like vet rewards. I don't like the advantages vets have. But they are the true addicts so they need something to keep them going.

Give them an ethereal warhorse. Or an ethereal rideable dragon or a polka dot robe +2 phys.

i believe a quick fix for this is an acct that is sold would be reset to an age of 1yr
it kinda pissed me off when i waited three years to ride an ethy and if you create an acct, buy gold, prurchase an ethy, you can ride a charger on your first day.
kinda slapped the vet in the face on that one.

vet rewards are a joke and havent changed since they were created
dye tubs can be bought anywhere
statues are pointless and deco only
soulstones were promised as pre order only items and were given as 1yr vet rewards
ethys can be bought anywhere

there is no real reward for a vet of 5 or better years that is actually worth the wait
i would want a vet reward like a talisman of speedhack removal
or something we all could use

TBH every player thats posted here, is a vet with a decent amount of years under their belt. I'm stuck at 22 months and its dragging. Having all these goodies like etheys and dye tubs and nice coloured robes, may not seem much to you as you already have it. Yet any char I want to have an ethey on I have to fork out over 5mill on a stupid charger! If I wanted a rune book that isn't brown, I have to ask a guildie to dye it for me, the same with leather. Also setting up any tightly skilled char with only 705 skill points is not easy at all! Thats 15 skill points, a whole item I have to use over a vet! I could never buy an account now, I've worked too hard gaining skills etc. But if I could turn back time and buy an account I would.

I understand that long serving players want benefits, of course they would. But being a relativly new player it is very frustrating.

I guess I'll be seein ya around UO... Running past on my charger.... (at least for the next 14months.)

You didn't make it personal, nor did you attack a user in your quote here. So.. not sure why you're asking me this.

What would happen in a situation where an unmarried woman who live at 1 maple street using her Visa to pay for UO. THen she getts married and moves into a new house with her husband and now has her husbands last name.

So if she wanted to update her UO billing information it would seem like she sold her account when in fact she didn't.

Unless you can think of a different way to determine if an account has been sold.

Account Access Transfer program

or browse knowledgebase on "account transfer"

I do not believe they were saying "if billing info changes" - they were saying "if the account is sold", there is a difference. ;)

A large percentage of accounts are sold player-to-player or through a broker though, which would make such a system hard to regulate.
