I am a returning player from long ago...

I was wonder on templates...

I have a Warrior current skills:

105 swords
103 tactics
106 anat
86 healing
93 Lumberjacking
54 resist

To be honest it was so long ago I don't remember what scrolls I've used on him but I was wondering is this still a viable template?

I was thinking about PVP but it seems you have to have like 100 million for items to be even decent?

You may wish to transfer your lumberjacking skill to another character via a soulstone or soulstone fragment. The max damage gain it gives axes was reduced to 20% at 100 skill level. For PvM, you can get away with not having Resisting Spells. (BTW, resist has been modified to only reduce impact of curses, and has no impact on magic damage except the necro Pain Spike spell.)

If you replaced those two powers with Chivalry and Focus, you would have a Paladin character giving you some new battle options (such as Enemy of One), secondary methods to heal and cure, and the ability to remove curses. The focus power would provide you with both more stamina and mana regen. The mana will be useful for your weapon's special moves and using the Chivalry spells.

Oh, Chivalry also includes the Sacred Journey power, which functions like a mage's Recall spell. It's nice to be able to get around. :)

Is Lumberjacking really that much of a waste? Even in PVP?

Also are Paladins viable for some light PVP but heavy PvM?

I wouldn't call Lumberjacking a waste, but when the devs decided it's damage increase on axes was too high, they nerfed it. PvP axers bemoaned the death of the game. (That's one of the reasons I'm not making a "sampire" character; it is clearly overpowered compared to other melee builds. I've already bought my earplugs to turn down the volume on player screams when the devs require adequate Spirit Speak to do form changes.)

One of my melee guys is Hue, a "bushido jack" resourcer. His build is something like:

120: Swords
110: Parry, Bushido
100: Tactics, Lumberjacking, Chivalry
80: Focus

Bushido offers multiple benefits. First, it lets Hue's axe function as a shield for parrying. Second, it offers some health regen via the Confidence stance. Third, it offers increased damage via both the Lightning Strike attack and Honor/Perfection. In my view, what Lumberjacking brings to the table is 2 extra levels of perfection, from the very first blow. (Each level of perfection is 10% more damage; GM Lumberjacking is 20%.)

And of course, I have someone to gather wood, dragon hides, and other assorted and sundry resources.

I don't PvP very much, so I can't really comment first hand on how a paladin would do. Hue often gathers wood in Felucca, though, so a possible random pk encounter doesn't bother him. From talking to folks though, if you make your guy a dexxer and have ready macros for chugging potions. you'll likely do ok. Ask in the Warrior forum for info from folks who actively do it.
