Template Help.. Mage Wep / Scirbe / Posion / Focus Mage --Reforged Suit....

Hola... Just considering Reforging up a pure casting Mage suit basically, but not positive on how I should do it...

720 Cap...

120 Mage
120 Med
120 Eval
120 Resist
100 Scribe
100 Poison
40 pts Left.

I was considering only going GM Meditation & trying for +40 skill points on the template so I could add in 100 Anatomy & drop the Mage weapon to pick up a shield instead, but it would be just for shield mods & Anat + Eval For Defense. Also... Do people simply include 18% Dmg Eater All / Casting Focus / Hp Regen or are people actually using Specific Eaters in Suits ?? Just looking to see what creative things people did with those extra 40 points. I thought about going 120 parry, but then your Shield + Mage Wep & losing pots isn't worth that imo.... Anyway, Thx in Advance.

First off u can drop nox to 80 and still hit DP..and drop gm med leave u with 80 points

Based on your numbers I would suggest alchemy or spellweaving. 40 alchy = 12 EP which leaves extra room in the suit. You can stone off the weaving and get a 6 focus to use GoL and attunment both of which will be pretty reliable at 40 skill.

Hmm.. Alchy is a good one that I forgot about. Spellweaving will break the Focused Mage aspect though. UOGuide says it requires 30+ skill to break a focused Mage temp, but I thought it was 20 skil now I will have to look. Also, 80 poison is a good idea though I know that there is benefits to having 100 poisoning so I will have to peak and crunch numbers. Does anyone have the link to the publish number that introduced Focused Mages... Cannot seem to find it atm?

I think you are correct regarding the focus Mage aspect. Think the cut off is 30.0 or below for focused Mage. Pub 71.

If you drop to 100 med you could go with 30 alchy (10 EP) and 30 weaving.

I ran this setup:

120 mage
120 eval
120 resist
100 med
100 anat
100 scribe
100 nox/healing/alchemy depending on what i felt like doing


this requires 40 skill bonus to achieve, so i ran the mage/eval mark of the trav and 20 skill bonus on my ring. you could also accomplish this with a nice skill bonus scrappers. I elected to use the 30sdi/dci spellbook at the time. due to not wanting to be disarmed and lose the skill. I elected no shield and the book instead because it made it simple to get all of my sdi in one spot, and being disarmed i didn't care much about sdi.

In this suit i ran 18 hit point regen, if i had casting focus it wasn't on purpose. This setup was prior to reforging so i'm sure if i sat down and made it again it would be alot better. My current 30sdi scribe/parry mage runs 18dmg eater and 18 hit point regen, no casting focus. And thats with a shield, and i believe 40 skill bonus as well, so i know it could be done.

I think the specific eaters work better than overall eaters. Mainly due to the delay in between the mod going off.

I'm working on a suit like that now, but planning on casting focus over HPR. Thinking I'm gonna just go parry/scribe with anat/eval for defense.

How u use the book with no wrestle?

My Nox Mage's template is old school (His template hasn't really changed since AoS or before), but it's recently come into favor again with the changes to Poisoning and Focus Mage.

120 Magery
120 Eval
GM Med
GM Resist (120 with Spellbook+Jewelry)
GM Wrest (120 with Jewelry)
GM Inscrip
80 Poisoning

With 120 Eval, GM Inscrip and the Focused Mage SDI cap, his spells hit like a freight train. No need to worry about Disarms either, since he has Wrest. With GM Inscrip+Resist, his Magic Reflection is powerful enough to reflect Flamestrikes.
Honestly, going with GM Wrest is better than going with GM Anat, since with Wrest you can at least Para Punch or Disarm.

Hmm thanks for that Cetric. I was thinking a +40 setup was what I wanted to do but had totally forgot about the mage mark of Trav I used on my myst mage with 60 necro...

@ Lynk.. Does Dmg Eater All work differently than specific eaters? I known the caps are 18% & 30% respectively but expected them to funtion the same. I know they work on different sources etc but you said something about delays. I do agree about CF though. Im already attached to the idea of 17% CF (includes scribe obviously). Until I find the right shame loot orngive up on doing so I wont be building though. I might have to crunch some numbers bc the rounding with eaters is a big factor. Ex... 10% Dmg E. All means if if take less than 10 Dmg it does nothing etc. Have to think about it some...

PK'ing since 98 & you dont know about Anatomy + eval = Dodge?.... Sure you cannot ever hit something but it functions like wrestling in reguards to a book.

@ Playerskill....Im currently running a maxed Hci wrestling setup & for all the imbuing weight tied up in that I dont get my moneys worth. Sure it makes whooping dexxers easy but they usually just bail until they can rearm. Id drop your 120 wrestlingnand go gm anatomy & stop trying to be a dexxer.

Actually the notes say no more than 30.0 are classified as focused. So at 30.1 you loose the bonus.
I dunno man, pretty sure it's 29.9 or below. There was a few threads about it in the spellcaster forums, including this one where Logrus talked about it.

Basically SDI Cap in PvP is 30% from items
This Cap is lowered to 15% you have 30 or more skill points in ADDITIONAL main or dependent skills.

So if you have Magery and Eval only OR Mystic and Focus only OR Necro and Spirit Speak only OR Spell Weaving only, your SDI Cap is 30% from items.
If you have Magery and Eval and 30 or more in (focus, necro, mystic, spirit speak, spell weaving, chivalry, musicianship, animal taming, ninjitsu, bushido, etc) your SDI Cap is lowered to 15%

It is 30. I tested it with Spellweaving and there is no difference in the damage the mage spells do at 29.9 or 30, unless they have changed it in the last 4 months.
Okay I would rather look stupid than actually be uneducated. The last I read about a bonus to damage had to do with isolation of skill sets, below 80 skill I thought. So now, was that just for pvm and this differing criteria sets that same stage for extra damage in pvp?
