OK, so, I died, got my AoF looted by a Shadow Fiend.
I rezzed, and killed him.

Guess what. Since they don't leave corpses - my AoF DROPPED TO THE GROUND FOR EVERYONE TO LOOT.

I see that as a HUGE problem....anyone else?

No Problem. I will be happy to sell your items back to you (for a recovery fee of course.) :lick:

Yeah, I guess it would be....Even in Fel, where you can hope to somehow kill the person who took it before he or she insures it.

And especially in Trammel, where you don't even have that faintest of hopes.

Is it just me or does insuring your items so they don't drop to your corpse seem like it could have prevented this?

Yes, it would have. Though, what you are supposed to do about uninsurable items, such as stacked potions, bandages, gold, etc?

Believe it or not, monsters loot items. They have been looting items for a long time. Not a major problem. This would be why they have insurance. And since you couldn't insure your AoF, then I guess that means it was cursed. Losing a "cursed" item seems kind of prophetic, doesn't it? :p But it just kind of sums up to a risk you have to take while using a cursed item.

Dear lord. Don't even start a debate on insurance. This isn't an issue about insurance, this is an issue about possible unintended behaviour.

Sheesh.

Serves me right for trying to let people know about this. God. I would have known that I'd get these responses...I wouldn't have posted.

Huh? I wasn't debating or starting one over insurance at all. Simply stating that monsters do loot items. If you insure your item you wont be at risk of having monsters loot them. And, finally, cursed items are at risk of being looted if you die. No need to get all mad over a simple statement of fact.

Sheesh.

Hopefully it gets fixed (properly). I know some of these pesky event creatures have a habit of doing (not so) impossible things. Like event creatures taking insured items, and even poofing with said items on occasion. (it happens)

your missing a huge point..
when you lose an item to a monster that loots your corpse and its killed.
you get the chance to get it back.. becuse its in the loot.
also its only visable to you to get it back untill the loot goes public..

now if it drops on the ground so anyone can pick it up.
its a problem that should be fixed.

Ah, OK so I acknowledge I did miss this huge point of items dropping to the ground instead of on corpse. At least I got a quarter of the point; monsters looting, though :p

Shadow Fiends looting players and leaving no corpse is working as designed since the inception of Khaldun years ago. Because it's not a common behavior, it was specifically mentioned in the notes as a fair heads up. Losing potions, bandages and reagents is part of the risk and difficulty of these monsters. Not losing your equipment is simply standard player responsibility: insure you gear, make sure you have sufficient funds in the bank and do not wear cursed artifacts when fighting them.

Despite the future cries over this, possibly even from me, I think this is a great way to get us reaccustomed to resupplying our items.

I'll be on the battle field with spare bandies and potions for all! Just keep those darned things away from me *grins*

:eek:snap:

Regine_EAMythic you rock!! I am tired of people blaming the devs and game mechanics for their short sightedness.

on a side note it is very frustrtating to have monsters loot you like liches when doing a deciet spawn when the same lich will walk back and forth over your corpse and it loots your body 5-6 times. But just make sure you have several piles of gold because monsters almost always take gold first.Since I have been putting my gold in 7 different little piles I have yet to loss anything, not even a bandage to a looting monster.

Fair enough, works for me...just wanted to make sure there was clarification that this was indeed intended.

And by all means, please disregard this entire post by Regine and allow me to access your items for you.
