[Imbuing] Target Skill Gain Success Chance for Training

I actively worked imbuing last night and this morning. I am keeping a detailed log from 70.0 imbuing.

As of this morning, I am at 93.9 Imbuing. I have used:
- 2450 Residue
- 2147 Citrine
- 615 Amber
- 24 Iron Ingots
- 186 Dull Copper Ingots

I'm still perfecting my method, but this is working.

My big question is what should my target success rate be? It appears you never gain off a fail. I've been targeting 50% success. Should I be going slightly higher (say 55% or 60%) to slightly increase my number of successful imbues and therefore increase my number of attempts to gain skill? I could really use your advice on this issue.

Thanks!

P.S. I will post my full table and explain my methodology once I get to 100 and then update it on my way to 120 as this is all post-pub 63. It is a slight variation on the method in the Data Chest forum because you can now used colored ingots and the menu allows you to much easier do an initial imbue and then reset for the remaining 19 attempts on the item.

As a newbie blacksmith who one day wants to learn imbuing, where is the best place to train imbuing? Is it in the gargoyle city?

Thanks!

For training, your best bet is to use a non-gargoyle character at a personal soul forge. This allows you to use less resources while keeping yourself in the optimum skill gain range. I'm still trying to find that optimum value, but suspect it is somewhere between 50% and 60% chance to imbue.

Once you have your skill training complete, you move it over via soul stone to a gargoyle character who has loytalty points accumulated to use the queen's soul forge. You will need a second 120 imbuing power scroll, however, to do this.

If you have a char slot open - and a soulstone or frag - I would suggest making a garg char with 50 imbue and 50 mysticism. Then go to Tel Mur public forge and imbue (or now you can gain by unrvaeling) an item/s until you gain .1 skill. At 50.1 you can now unravel Enchanted Essences and when you reach 55ish, I would advise buying a soul forge deed and train at home.

At home you lose public forge bonus, but you will have all your raw materials and ingredients within arms reach, instead of toting a pack mule back and forth...

If you have no spare slot, I would buy 40 skilland then use a Garg Change token if you are serious about Imbuing, and plan to take skill to 120. A Garg and use of "Queen's" Soul Forge will give you a significant bonus that is apparent when adding a 5th mod or maximizing other mods...

the thread shelleybean provided works well, though I modified the tables somewhat. I would suggest gettting the crystal ball of knowledge it is a SA quest (forget which one) once obtain and turned on, the ball will tell you what you are imbuing is too easy, easy, optimal for each attempt.

I made just iron small plate jingasas (exceptional only) imbued them all the way to 120 though I did unravel them after imbue them each 20 times

I did get gains on failures, I was wathcing for them, much to my surprise.

used about 30,000 residue, 30,000 amber, 30,000 citrine, 20,000 iron ingots to hit 120 though I have some left over that was my starting base

I'm at 100.3 now. I'm still targeting 50%-51% success rates. It seems to be working.
