Taming a creature... does lore make a difference in chance?

I've been searching and can't find anything clear.

What I'm trying to find out is does one animal lore make any difference in the chance to tame an animal? Or is it 100% based upon the taming skill?

I know control chance is based upon lore and taming... but I am looking STRICTLY about chance to tame.

Thanks for any information or links.

True about testing it on test shard. That link was helpful also.

I was just hoping someone had some experience on this.

I'm scratching my head on the best way to adjust one of my tamers to make taming pets easier:thumbup1:

AFAIK, the chance to tame a creature is based on Animal Taming only ... Animal Lore is used in combination with Taming for the Control Chance tough.

But I can say this : I went from 110 to 115 in Animal Lore without raising my Animal Taming, and I didn't see an increase in my "taming chances" ...

Taming only requires animal taming skill to perform. However, you need lore to check out a pet before you tame it and then to control the pet in order to get it home and stable it, so I don't know if it'll be much help to take lore out of your template...

The one skill you probably won't use for taming is vet unless you're beating pets down, so if you wanted to pull one of your taming skills to enhance your template, I'd take vet out temporarily and slot in something else.

I have special taming jewelry I toss on which bumps me to 120 when I wanna tame something.
But the rest of the time I run around only with enough to control the pets.

115 taming, 105 lore and 110/110 are enough for 99% control on a Greater Dragon.

Fire steeds and Dread warhorses take more control.

Tweak your skills to find your sweet spot.

I'm not too worried about doing anything with the char but actually taming a creature. (Joys of having 100million soul stones:party: )

I've got the natural 120 taming going so that isn't a problem.

I'm just currently doing some "number crunching" to see what skill set is going to work best.

Yeah, if you're not worried about loring a pet first or you have some failsafe way to get it to the stables (eg it needs zero skill to control after taming or it's a mount pet, you can hop onto) then you should be ok. It's only pet selection or situations where you'll need control to get the pet home that lore is a necessity if that makes sense ;)
