has any fellow warriors also tried out taming on their templates? i've been playing around with the concept, but just recently began finishing up the template with the help of SoT's. it's been an amusing change of pace:

110 swordsmanship
100 anatomy
100 healing
85 chivalry
100 animal taming
100 animal lore
90 veterinary
35 garbage points yet to assign

i'm still training up my pets, i've started out with a pair of bonded drakes riding a barded swamp dragon. i now have a nightmare and a rune beetle, which i've found is a pretty effective combination especially with my warrior joining along side them using enemy of one and consecrate weapon. i'm still getting use to the set-up, it's pretty fun.

one question, any suggestions on the warrior end of the build? right now i'm using a darkwood suit and some decent runeblades with hit lower attack and hit lower defense. damage isn't anything spectacular, but i hit fast enough alongside my pets. i still have 35 points to assign.

No tactics? I'd throw those 35 points in tactics, and cannibalize enough points from healing, anatomy, and chiv to get tactics to at least 90 for specials & damage output. Also, I'd take swords to at least 115, and 120 if possible. It makes a big difference if you're using pets for damage rather than tanking to be able to dodge a bit more (and you'll hit more too).

Good luck. I tried an archer tamer a while back and found suit-building and stat-balancing to be pretty frustrating. It's probably easier now with Imbuing though.

i want to push swordsmanship to 115, though it seems that particular scroll is hard to come by. 110 is working out ok since my rune blades keep the target under lower attack and lower defense. without those particular modifiers, it'd be a lot harder.

i find myself hardly using special moves unless its whirlwind or armor ignore in PvM, which is why i forego tactics in many PvM templates. i figure tactics isn't that vital for this build, since i have pets as heavy hitters. also, since my mana regeneration and reserves are low, i save those points for emergency heal/cures.

for a suit, i just use a darkwood suit for now, since it has decent luck when i use the statue, and provides adequete DCI and protection. no mana regen though, which will probably be my big roadblock when i test out some of the tougher paragons soon. haven't given much thought about building a suit for this template, would probably need to build it around the rune beetle carapace, or the helm of insight. haven't looked into imbuing yet, and wouldn't know if it's even all that viable considering this character will be on the front lines.

If you hunt big game. You might find it necassary to carry Inviso Pots. If you get the aggro you`ll probable take a dirt nap before your pets can kill it.

At minimum, you want 110 taming, 110 lore, and 120 weapons skill. After that, you have a bit of leeway. Typically, warrior/tamers don't try to fit healing/anatomy. Instead, they use 4/6 fc/fcr for insta chivalry healing. Here are some options that I've seen/used:

Archer/Tamer (my favorite PvM template; the "trammy's" PvP template)

120 Archery
120 Tactics
110 Taming
110 Lore
110 Vet
80 Chiv
65 Med

Bushido/Tamer (PvP only, in my view, due to lack of vet)

120 Swords
120 Parry
120 Bushido
110 Taming
110 Lore
90 Tactics
60 Chiv

Melee/Tamer

120 Swords
120 Parry
100 Tactics
110 Taming
110 Lore
100 Vet
60 Chiv

120 - Archery
120 - bushido
115 - Taming
110 - Lore
110 - Vet
110 - Tact
85 - chiv

is how i roll with my "trammy" still have left over points to roll into somethin

how does tactics compare with anatomy in terms of damage? on paper, it's a matter of 18% base damage, plus special moves which is situational. is there any other variables in practice?

not sure if i could go without healing and just rely on chivalry, especially with no resists and mana drain. i could see doing that with an archer, or using a great mana leech weapon.

i'm curious to see how far i can take this template. funny enough, without pets, i can at least solo a balron with relative ease, just takes a bit longer and i need to joust.
