Tales of Amazing Customer Service

While I couldn't begin to count how many times I have needed help and been snubbed by the canned responses, some nights remind me why I love UO and it's land so much.

Years ago, every time you needed help, the GM's would come to you, before we had this silly little chat mechanism. They would appear and if you were alone, sometimes come fully visible, and if not, would show just to you. This was something I always loved about UO, in that we had real facetime with the people who helped us. I prefer to talk to people face to face in real life, instead of over the phone or internet, so the closest we can get in UO is to have the other character there. This is one reason I hated paging GM's, that now even if you don't get a canned response, it still feels like you're not really worth the time to come see in person. I have many tales of frustrating nights spent paging with no results, but this isn't one of those.

GM Drasaw was the most polite and helpful GM assistance I have had in quite some time. Not only did he assist me with my problem, He also fielded all questions I asked of him, and even acceded to a request from a longtime player who was feeling nostalgic for the old days, and he showed himself and talked with me for a few moments. I am very grateful that you have customer service reps like GM Drasaw, and I hope that you cherish his employ, as I cherish his service to those of us playing in this world. I will continue to play and enjoy Ultima Online, and a large part of that is thanks to people like GM Drasaw.

So what stories do you all have about GMs who deserve recognition for helping, and doing so promptly?

I remember those days. I always felt good after meeting with the GM. Now I feel as if I was not helped. The answers given by auto response are often wrong. Most often not helpful and then page for help again find oneself at the back of line. Waiting game begins again. I am so happy to read that a GM responded in person and answered your questions.

I used to love working with the GMs when I was a counselor.

Like you I always loved it when they actually came to you and talked with you about the problem. I think problems got resolved better and quicker then because you could actually EXPLAIN the problem to them and if there was a misunderstanding it could be cleared up right then so they could get on with the fixing of the issue.

Boy I miss those days!

I will tell this story again, so it can be spread around the campfire:


I was wandering home and passed a GM talking to a player. This player was having trouble placing his house he had saved up for. The GM was trying to explain to him that some rock or object was in the way.


I quickly went home and grabbed my thief. A few minutes later I own his house deed. The GM sends me a message, "Man thats just wrong. wrong."


Boy do I miss the good ole' days.

This story is the one where 20+ blues got my house key and so many were in my house grabbing chest after chest after chest they could not move. Shouting, OMG, I can't believe how rich these guys are!!!!


Server message: Server coming down for maintance, please log out now.


It backed up before I died to them, and after server up, I had my keys, and all my chests full of their gear I had taken from them in the weeks prior.
