I dont know much about them, but I was wondering that once you put a point in the talent tree is it permanent or can you take it back and move it somewhere else

You can talk to the trainer and unlearn all of your talents but it costs money. The more times you do it the more money it costs you to unlearn them.

So be careful in the path you choose, it will cost you later if you choose to respec.

That is one thing I miss about UO. There isn't much I miss about their game but they offered a Test Play Area where you could log in and create a character with any skill level and any combination of abilities, that way you could play test different combo.'s.

Moving on though, since that really isn't available here you'll find people will either "respec" their Talents once they hit 60 to move to an endgame character or choose a different path, like me who has more than one Warlock and Paladin, with different Talent Tree's. A Paladin Trained in Retrib is a whole lot different than one trained in Holy Talents.

Just a matter of trying some different Talent Paths out I guess.

Watch it, Buddy. Some of us still enjoy that game.

OK, heheh I won't stray from the OP's original topic.

But I will say this, there is something very strange about that game. It has a pulling power over me that makes me lurk above their forums even though I haven't played their game, (your game), in a year and have no plans to return.

That strangeness is known as "freedom." It's like being born in America. Any character can be anything it wants to be with no restrictions. A mage can become a warrior, if they wish. It's like Michael Jackson. This is the only country where a poor black man can grow up to become a rich white woman. UO is like that.

And let's not forget boats and houses.

I still play. and you know it Bo *winks*

As far as talents go, if you don't respec for several weeks price goes down, but its always very expensive to respec....But Blizzard offers a talent tree where you can spec stuf and see how much things work. Not sure if it tells you the max of what you have after you choose things.

I kniow there are many ways to spec for different classes...it's hard to decide so read up before youd o....i know sometimes you have to respec for various raids/dungeons...so keep that in mind too

What about class?

Say you have a hunter you no longer enjoy and want to make it a warrior. Can you change that or do you have to delete the character and start over?

You can't change your class. You're stuck with that just like you're stuck with your original hair color.

You have to simply start over from scratch.

Sorry, but an apple cannot become an orange. A hunter is a hunter and will so remain. Deleting the hunter and creating a warrior is certainly one way to do it.

However, since you get 10 slots per server (cap of 50 total), it might be more advisable to just abandon the hunter and create a warrior. Later, you may decide to return to the hunter. If not, when you get around to deleting the character, you'll do so in an informed way, and do something like selling everything, and mailing the jingles to the warrior.
