Switching to Free Player...

And I was wondering, are we allowed to keep the houses we currently own? I do know that Free Players are only allowed a size 1 lot, but what happens if you decide to switch to Free and you have houses? Also, is the Wipe on non-activate accounts still happening, I do remember Greg mentioning that they are stopping that but I wasn't sure if that was in the future or now.

I am curious about this as well. I have heard that the lot will be downsized and I have heard that it won't. Anyone in the know?

I have a free account in EAland with a size 8 lot. The lot was given to her by another of my sims, so I dont know if free accounts can upgrade, but if they have a large lot they keep it, it doesnt get downsized.

EA want free accounts to buy money, so I suspect that they can build and upgrade, otherwise why buy money if they couldnt

Well, I would just continue as a Subscriber, but I am tired of paying for screw ups.

I thought about switching my other account to free, but I've been playing the lava game on it. I wonder how that works if you go free?

You will keep your primary sim, either the oldest or the one you designate primary. The other sims will be subject to the same sim delete rules as always, 30 days lose the house/90 days lose the sim. Your primary sim will not be allowed to keep your lot either as free accts will be limited to a size 0 lot. The lot will however revert to a roomie.

Think long and hard about doing this if you have old sims and houses you dont want to lose or keep one acct open, with 8 sims on an acct you could have each one take over a house so you dont lose them.

Some of this I just learned in the TH Saturday.

Free Players have also been playing the Lava Game.

In the Blog, Sarah answered this question:

Do free accounts that cash in get cards? Do subscribers who cash in get extra cards? Or both?

Both. This allows free players to buy into the game.

So at a guess, you would still be able to continue the game, as long as the card is on the primary avatar, but you would have to use the ATM to get cards for the rest of the colors.

if they allowed us to keep our larger size lots, then too many people would just subscribe for a month, build their stuff up then cancel. But i am right there with you, i would have already put my sims on free accounts if i wasnt afraid of losing my properties. So i will continue to pay for a little while longer and HOPEFULLY i will not regret it as wasted money. Although as time goes on with no info from devs and no changes that i am aware of, i may just save myself 20 bucks next month.
