Summon spell advice

Hello, all. I'm extremely new to UO and enjoying the heck out of it, but I'm in a bit of a bind. I'm also aware that I probably don't even know enough yet to ask the right questions, so I beg your indulgence in advance. I've looked at UOguide and the playguide on the UO website, and I'm having trouble determining the advantages and disadvantages of the various summon spells. I've got 100 magery and am working on my mysticism and spellweaving (soloing the SW quest in Exodus was... interesting). I want to focus on PvM, and I would really appreciate any advice you fine folks might have as to how to get the most mileage out of my pet control slots. Thanks in advance!

Oh, if it makes a difference, my skills are currently:
Magery 100
Eval. Int. 100
Focus 100
Med 100
Resist Spells 100
Inscription 100
Mysticism 42
Spellweaving 39.5
I'll be dropping something, probably Resist Spells, to get those last two up to 100 eventually.

The following summons are the good magery summons:
Earth elemental and energy vortex

At 100 magery, the fail-time to cast those makes them unproductive.

The following is a good mysticism summon:
Rising colossus
At less than 100 mysticism, you can't really cast it. 110-120 is better. The RC beats the heck out of most other summons.

The following is a great spellweaving summon:
Nature's fury
The disadvantages are that they're easy to dispel and they do 100% poison damage.
But with a level six arcane focus, each NF is nearly as good as an energy vortex, but you can get five furies out at a time.

It depends on the weakest resist of what you're fighting and whether it can dispel or not.

1 Summoned Demon has melee + spells and can inflict poison with their melee.

2 Earth Eles good for physical damage and if the target can dispel, these resist it more often than other summons.

2 Energy Vortex's good for energy damage plus they have higher Wrestling than the other summons, so hit more frequently.

1 Fire Elementals fire melee damage + spells.

2 Air Elementals these keep away from the target and give you more spell dumping fire power than any of the other combinations, they're easily dispelled though, and best on something thats already being tanked or that is melee only.

Thank you all for your help! Wow, I didn't even think about resists and dispelling; did I mention I'm really new?

I remember reading the comic "Lost in UO" years ago and they said Energy Vortex was really good, so I've been using that. I've been scribing scrolls of EV to reduce the fizzle chance in combat.

If I can ask another question; I've seen several people on this board talk about the SW spell Summon Fey as being quite effective. Is that the case only in PvP?

Yes, Summon fey is really a PvP burst damage spell. The pixies will die in 1 hit to any of the stronger monsters. They are used in Pvp in combination with a mystics spell plauge
