Well, here I am again, playing UO (damn you and your return to Britannia promos!)
Logged in to find my characters and everything (DOB Oct 1997!) still there... Even more surprised to see my Counselor still alive on Great Lakes. Although he is in "Jail" in Fel...

Is this normal? I honestly can't remember when my last shift was as a Counselor...

I was aware the Counselor program was disbanded... I played pretty regularly from 1997 to 2007. I guess I just hadn't checked to see if I could still log in as my Counselor until this return to UO. But because I couldn't remember which characters on which servers were the most recent I logged into pretty much all the US servers to see what characters I had. (I was usually on Napa)

Insure that robe ! Id also take it off and if a GM arrives I'd hold it in my cursor & only drop it in my backpack a couple seconds b4 you were sent off by a GM

There are a number of those characters/accounts still active. But much like other things in this game (100 LRC robe, armor with insane resist, illegal pets in stables), people don't talk about it or advertise it as to not draw attention to it, because they don't actively search out that stuff, even thou it's not really that hard to do so.

Ya contact EA so they can ban that account and delete any notion of a working system that added value to the game. Goodness me if a return to brit account that is active for 30 days gets seen.

The character is completely non-functional... can't do anything other than walk around in the cell I assume he has been in for almost a decade... No paperdoll, no inventory. If I recall correctly, the counselor powers came from a separate "tool" that we ran alongside UO that enabled us to do some backend-ish things. And I don't have the tool...

As of right now, it's just something cool to look at...

I had my account perma shut down a few years ago by CS/dev help. It was when I was worried about it being hacked. (hacking accounts was rampant then) Do not try anything! Just do as Petra suguested and contact Mesanna.... now if you want to join the EM circut... it might be handy....... hehe

The tool was a short cut for the commands. You didn't need it to use the powers. It was sort of like a macro bar.

Contact Mesanna for sure. I reopened my old great lakes account last year and found my companion status was still active. All my companion powers were active, the kid could see the blue companion tag, and I was still able to help the new player while I waited for a gm to respond but I was more than a little nervous... seeing how the companion system got smashed into nothing in the first place. The ever knowledgeable GM had no idea what a companion was or what powers I was referring to and basically told me to contact bug reporting but at least I checked in and was able to cover my a$$. =/

Not sure if it is the same for the counsilers though, your powers were a bit more extensive and companions were powered on they're normal characters rather than a specific avatar.... we just get some extra abilities when a new player pages for help. I only left the acct open for 30 days but as far as I know, they never did do anything to fix it. Cover your behind and check in, before they decide you're up to no good and hit ya with a ban hammer.

Pfft... I wish. I think this is up there with UO folklore. After several re-orgs of the Counselor program, in the end you were not allowed to be a Counselor on a server which you actually played... hence I got assigned as a Counselor on GL, as I didn't have a playable character on that server. I would never have stopped playing UO if it were free. I always wondered why they didn't go to a freemium model with UO, I think they would have sucked in a lot more people post 2005ish.

The character is good for RP, if nothing else. How can you RP when in solitary confinement, you ask? Your char has been imprisoned in a void for hundreds of years, now awakened and has friends on the outside trying to solve the riddle for his release. Or something

I double checked my counselors account and its still locked. Get ahold of Mesanna and expalin you were just courious to see if it was activated too. Reason I had my account locked was the "powers" were still active on my "C". If it ever was hacked.......... We are still under contract and responseable for anything it does.... for me I was not about to risk 53 accounts on 1 misque. I contacted the Dev through CS(at that time CS was friendly!). As for everyones info some "C" accounts from the start were players own accounts like my Seer one. But later on the "structured by EA" accounts were seprate and belonged to EA, oh we are registered as owner in the Account system its why you got it on in the first place. The free account could be any of your own accounts, however they quickly took the free for life status back after the close of the program. Great thank you for service rendered! pfft

Yes the 47 I have on are up and running, unless that darn billing management goes bonkers again (seems it has issues each month after a handfull bill). I have a life and yes I use each and every one .... Salivern hunny oh they all have houses... but I do use them many have full gm + characters running around.
If they ever converged shards my character list would be miles long!

Well............ I am indexed to a point.
Shards: Atl, baja,cats,chessy,hokuto,napa,origin,oceania,siege,sonoma,pac,gl. I did reduce homes and shards but still have working characters on 5 other shards.
So now you know why I say whoa to all the people talking about homes with unseen owners to be removed! Those homes I do live in hehe. And yes I do work on all those shards, it's not hard. I do have 90% of all I own on spred sheets including characters, age, skills, what who has and where they should be. But I will admit I did loose stuff in the early days before I made the spred sheets... of which I just found... yipeee cause I finished the rtb accounts on the sheets I found my missing stuff!!

hmmm lets see origin 10 castles 2 luna houses , baja is a bunch of smalls and a few mid range houses, cats has 2 keeps and a bunch like baja, chessy has 2 keeps 1 tower, hokuto 2 tiny houses, really should invest in a bigger home ... , oceania 2 castles 1 keep 6 towers and smattering of other homes oh and a luna house, siege has a tower, villa, and mini tower, sonoma has keep and smatering of homes , pac has tower, gl has mid range house... Atl i have keep, tower, 18x18, and vendor 18 x 18 in mag... Napa 3 castles 5 keeps, 2 towers, villa vendor shop, and alot of smalls remember alot of my accounts are grandfathered.....

I have Europa chars hun and do go there on my free time. Ues to have friends who played there, though they are long gone I keep my ladys up and running. I play alot of shards but dont have homes there... some I would love to add a house to list but unless we go back to a house per shard per acct... I cant see it happening soon. I still am juggling what to drop to get a bigger house on Hokuto.... 2 tiny houses is not holding my accounts chars too well. Bonnie needs to make bod books like the pinks books.. would make room a bit but not enough to save me from adding a bigger home.

Hmm I 'd say the Smithsonian group on Origin 4 castles full of UO history. But in my mind if i had the power to save only one house in uo it would be my tower on napa. It's special to me.
