Stupid Carpentry Question

Hey I have a question about carpentry. I have been chopping lots of logs and getting oak logs along with my ordinary logs. I can't cut them up into boards though or use them for my carpentry. I am to low in skill or missing a recipe or what? Any info would be appreciated.

Did you make sure you have selected 'oak' in your crafting gump?

Open your carpentry menu. Near the lower left is a box to select the materials to use. You should be able to select oak. If you then get a message to the effect of "I have no idea how to work with this" you need more skill.
