Is this character your logging in a young possibly in fel??
Had troulbe with an old account reciently collecting gifts on.. 2 characters were infact young and in a fel inn... all i got was the log in black screen... took a GM on another character on that account that was ok to get them out of limbo.

had a similar issue last week, contacted EA, after 2 hours the answer was uninstall and reload game. My internet connection doesn't allow me the ability to download the new client from the site so i had to use a disc and patch, took 7 hours when done.
