[Arms Lore] Stuck at 90ish, any tips?

I got up to 90 while finally getting the last couple of points I needed to legendary smithing/tailoring, and then my gains just STOPPED. I was before getting probably 3-5 Arms Lore gains for every tailor/smith gain, but then no gains for a good 90 minutes as I was finishing up smithing.

I asked around, and found that most people just lored a bunch of items to GM, which I tried. Out of about a thousand lore attempts while filling junk bods, I got up to 90.4, and all but one of those gains was suprisingly while crafting a weapon.

Does anyone have any tips on specific things to craft or lore to GM? I've just gotten a couple of runics I'm itching to burn, but I want to do it at my max. Is there some kind of progression like the armor progression for stealth? If its totally random, it seems like it'd not drop off quite so much so suddenly.

I still have 12 points available from marked down carpentry (worked it up on a different crafter on another account that deals with more wood stuff), so I'm not out of points....

I always thought there was a limit on points that you could gain in a particular period so my method to gain when I wasn't is to wait till another time then try again.

There isnt a limit to the amount of skill points you can get. Not sure why you are not gaining though as I gmed easily before I was done crafting. I also GMed one of my arms lores while doing heartwood quests. Took longer but at least I was getting something for my time. Cheapest way I would think would be to use tailoring and make something that takes the fewest cloth to make and just cut up everything as you go.

Are you following the skill gain guides at the top of this forum? I believe at 90 you should be making Oil Cloths for Tailoring and Royal Circlets for Smithing.

Loring, like most skills, slows to a complete crawl the higher it is. I never bother training it. It just went up naturally over time.

Make oil cloths or royal circlets to train lore? I've already hit 120 in both smithing and tailoring (had been at 116ish on both for ages). I didn't see an armslore skill guide amoungst the forest of stickies, but I'll go take another look. As for the cloths and circlets, I'll gladly try it if you think it might help.

Natalie; At first I attributed it to making shields-- a valid reason, as shields won't gain you in lore I found out-- but then I swiched to plate tunics and still nothing. Just because it could have easily been the timer thing, I went out and bought some short spears from an NPC just to test at the point where it'd been around 24 hours since my last gain, and I lored each 10 times with no gains at all.

Oil cloths will not gain you Arms Lore. Has to be a wearable.

If you're turning in cloth BOD smalls for new BODs, concentrate on doing the Hat BODs. I found I got about 1 gain every 250-500 items crafted (averaging about 1 per 300) that could be affected by arms lore; the same held true for weapons (though perhaps slightly slower) and junk armor/helm types.

I got a GGS plus 3 more lore gains on a low-80s tailor, from 96.3 to 96.7, filling about 30 smalls for 6-piece LBODs (leather, spined & horned).

(note - other clothes, oil cloths, and shields won't give gains, but tinkering Smith hammers or sledgehammers for Smith tools, or hammers for carp tools, will).

Also note that, traditionally, people have reported REALLY slow gains in nearly every skill in the game, from 90 to 95-96; it is believed that this is a result of a bit of leftover coding from when ALL skills were capped at 100 (no PS) with no ability to lock skills (or, IIRC, set their direction), to make reaching and maintaining multiple GM skills difficult.

I know from personal experience that EVERY crafting skill (well, all I have - still not made a cook), even if a PS used for smith & tailor, seemed to gain at about 1/3 or less normal rate (after GGS) in the low 90s - as did begging, magery tactics and anatomy - all of which sped up to their previous rates when closer to 100 than to 90. And that fits the pattern that people had been reporting almost as long as Stratics has existed.

Frankly, if any of my characters (I have FOUR with GM lore, and 2 in the high 90s) were still in the low 90s, I'd be buying every Scroll of Transendance I could find (not to mention any Scroll of alacrity, and only log the character in for GGS for several weeks, until the alacrity scroll ran out).

That is if you didn't have to be doing crafting anyway. I get the feeling that many of the posters her actually play a smith or tailor in game. For me at least I am just the smith or tailor for my other characters although long ago I used to hang out in Britain or Delucia and take orders between mining runs.

Alright. In the interest of passive gains, I'm going to change my mining tool to a pickaxe (can be used as a weapon so that should work), my smithing tool from tongs to hammers and loreing each of these as well as every peice I make for a BOD.

Its both comforting and disheartening to hear that about the lower 90's, Basara. While I wish there was some work around, its good to know that I'm not the only one that goes through it.

MY bad. I didn't read your post completely.

For loring, I let it go up naturally while I fill BODs.

It will go up while crafting or by using the Lore skill on weapon. Either way, you will slow way down in gains above 90; sometimes well over 30 minutes per gain.

I believe that there is a limit to how much strength dex or intel can be gained in a 24 hour period. Not on skill gain. However most will agree it certainly seems to stop dead.
I tried killing myself to see if it helped and I got a few gains soon after but I think that had more to do with the pasage of game time than anything else.
If your account is 1 year old or more and you have a soulstone try cleaning up your skill list of some of those .3 or 2.3 skill gains you might have. Finding a few points of focus, meditation is common as they are passive gain skills you may have locked too late after char creation.
I havent done it in a while but you should be able to put those on the stone and delete them right afterwards then use the stone again without waiting 24hours.
If youre at your skill cap (700 to 720 depending on your account age) try stoning a skill you wont be using for awhile. If youre training/trading off a skill (pointing it down while training one pointing up) it takes a little longer in my experience.
You can buy a soulstone from UOgamecodes.com for 9.99 but I would call them to make the purchase as there has been some trouble recently with the server for that.
I bet your persistance will get you there before you figure which of these posts help you. Good luck. Hope I helped somehow.

the cap on stat gains was removed a year or two ago.
