Strongest Hirelings?

I met a new player today who was using a Hired fighter to kill zombies to make money. :) Interesting method, and very useful from what I saw.

She wanted to know if there were even stronger people(NPCs) she could hire to fight bigger things like ettins.

I honestly couldn't suggest any. The only hirelings I ever used are the Fighters from the dueling pit for healing practice. And once upon a time Mages to protect my ship.. but that's a whole other time.

Does anyone know if there are any stronger than the fighters?

You can tell him to go get Paladins in Trinsic. There's a bunch of them that hang out on that mini island right next to the North bank.

The monks in Tokunu Homare Jima [sp.?] NE. of the gate are not really hirelings, but they will help you fight if they are near. They are real strong too. Big problem is that most of what spawns around there is pretty tough for an early stage character.

I do not know if those monks spawn anywheres else however.

Thank you for the help.

I checked back every hour or so until I found her in New Haven again.
Turns out she took Herding and Cooking as her skills, and couldn't figure out how to make money to buy things to cook with.

* Oh the joys of being a newbie :) *

I set her up with a Towns book and a few extra recalls, and a butchers cleaver to carve up animals with.
She is now happily terrorizing the brigand spawns E. of Trinsic on Barrier Isle with her minion, and cooking up cow ribs.
(and I think she has decided to add Tailoring to her list - since I explained about all of that leather she gets from the cows.)

Its nice to see new players that are actually new. I really hope the next anniversary edition does something to bring more people to the game.
