That happens to me sometimes too, usually it happens when I log in at an abnormal time like 3 Am. I have no idea what causes it but it usually fixes itself and lets me in within a few minutes.
Try to clear your browser cache and cookies.
Early in the morning (4-5 AM EST), the server runs an automatic backup sequence, which bogs things down quite a bit.
