I find it strange that the Gargish Chest is not dyeable. I tried to dye one said not a piece of furniture.

the strange thing is that you made it with wood and is a metal chest :D

Did you try to dye it with the old Furniture dye tub?
Perhaps try the new dyes (stains) they can stain most things, even the Home of the Hearth Fire ;)
