I asked this quetion in the Craftsman forum yesterday, but with no responses, so I'm hoping I have better luck here. My question is-

I'm wanting to put -20 Mage Wep on a Twink that I have. The existing mods on the Twink are SC no - (so also FC1), DCI 20, and DI 40. According to the imbuing menu I have an 11.7% success chance at adding this mod. The strange part is that the total weight showing is 566. How is this even possible? Can it be imbued or not? Obviously I could knock the DI down, but if I can maintain the wep as it stands now I'd much rather do that.

Any ideas?

If it's red it'll just give the message 'no can do'. On the other hand even though I didn't imbue that much I did imbue a lance the other day with insanely high mods which I think would be overweight even though the gump said it wasn't (no ssi sadly :( ). But anyway best is just to try it.

I'd prefer not to uselessly burn resources on something that can't happen if that's truly the case.

Re: No risk No reward

Part of the fun of imbuing is experimenting with different things. Yes you'll burn some resources in the process, but it's pretty easy enough to get more if you know where to look. There's plenty of info on Stratics to help find every ingredient you'll ever need :)

If you can do it, there will be a large chance to fail and lose your stuff, if it cant be done, you will just get an error message telling you it cant be done and nothing will be lost.

So you have a 89% chance of failling anyhow I would say youre going to burn a few resources if it lests you anyhow

Connor, the problem is that DCI, that is over range and due to the Twinkie - I guess it gets counted as 20 for the intensity totals, and as 14 for the imbuing chance or something like that.
As for the imbuing, I guess you can try, but be aware it's a situation not dissimilar to that of those Ecru Citrine Rings a few weeks ago.

Can you attempt it once? It seems like I ran into something similiar on test center. It appeared like I could do it, even though it was beyond the maximum weight. When I tried it, it said the item would be too unstable and it wouldn't go through with the imbue. I didn't lose materials either.

Its possible because the DCI is over the cap and properties have weights. SC no penalty is 240%, you can find out what 40 DI is by setting it to that, you can find out what the 20 DCI is by taking the other two properties and another low property (such as 1 Luck - just to bring up the property total) away from the propety total. Then you will know the difference between the cap and the current total. You can see how much intensity -20 MW is and from that how much you need to lower DI to. Or just lower it put MW on then raise it again but that wastes resources and not how I'd do it.

So unless it has a 5th property that you didn't mention like Lower Requirements which you can see on the Imbuing gump or is 'made from materials too old to Imbue' (made before the patch with non iron ingots) then you should be able to.

Even if you dropped DI to 1 you'd still need more to allow the Mage Weapon property on there.

I suspect you'd wnd up dropping DCI down...which would probably be a waste.

It would be easier to simple craft it up from scratch and not go over the caps tobegin with.

Just make it on the test shard and prove to yourself it cannot be done. I was imbuing a piece yesterday and got the message that I couldnt do that. I didn't check if I lost resources, but don't think I did.

No, its nothing like the imbuing ecrus. The 50 ep was not totalled at all into the ring on the ecrus.

i ran into this very same problem..
mw -20 is a 1.0 wieght, so you need 100 pts.
you are at 467 right now with the 20 dci, the sc, fc1 and di 40.
sc is 100
fc1 is 140
di is 80 (40 is 80% at 1.0)
dci is 147 (20 is 133.33% at 1.1)

drop di down to 7 and you should be ok.
