Story line and next event?

I read the news about the meeting of the Royal Spies, and was wondering if anyone attended? It was to discuss threats to the kingdom. Anyway, I was doing a little resource gathering and found a book in the forest outside of Britain. It was just a little ways off the road. I asked some guildmates but they thought it was from an old event. I read the info on the EM website, and discovered this was not the case. Apparantly the event/storyline was delayed due to the release of SA. The book was titled: Orders, and discussed something about explosions, and a possible invasion? Anybody even really care about the storyline? I just like to stay on top of things. I hate to recall into Britain and find an invasion going on. Why I remember the Juka invasion, and my miner getting killed near Minoc. That was loads of fun, and I wasn't expecting that at all. I think I had been playing for less tha a month. This was back when you could still loot players corpses. Heh... got some good stuff that way. Well, I did try to wait for the other player to return, but usually too many Juka around. But I digress... Anyone know anything about the new storyline?

I think that IS old stuff...something about the blackrock bombs left around the city...they were cleaned up in an EM event this summer. It led up to the final showdown with the shadow lords. FWIW.

Hhhmmm...that may be the case, but are the red books new? The ones titled Conspiracy? The one written by a Brother Pemenard? The "book" titled Orders I found was written by Brother Pemenard.

If it's an old book why are these things left out? Kind of confusing. It seems like it would be easy to delete these things after an event or story line is over:thumbdown:.

I'm guessing most of us just really don't care.

Really? I found a book in the forest 'locked down". My lumberjack works in the area most of the time. I hadn't seen it there before, but I may have just missed it. So I read it, and thought, "huh?". I checked with guild mates, and didn't find out anything. I checked the EM website, and found a couple of posts that may have something to do with the book. So I came here trying to find out more information, after I did a lot of research online. So I am trying not to be 'lost and/or confused". Your post wasn't any help, and in a way insulting to many if not all of the GL players.

I want to say something rude and nasty but it's not my way... usually. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.... sheeeesh.

There is a Royal Spy event every Tuesday, at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central, whether one is announced specifically or not.

http://greatlakes.uoem.net/

There's been maybe 1 exception since I came to the shard, and that was the day of the Stygian Abyss launch.

The best way to find out about the Spy events is to show up, because they often aren't spoken about publicly....For obvious reasons. This is Her Majesty's Secret Service, after all.

The spy events are run by EM Malachi. EM Iatu runs events as well, often but not always centering about the Royal Guard. His events aren't held as regularly, though. He's got something Saturday night (at least I think it's him). From the announcement it doesn't seem to be combat-related but anything's possible.

Most, but not all, of the spy events during the epic Warriors of Destiny event cycle/storyline revolved around advancing the plot of that event cycle/storyline. The next manufacturer-run event cycle/storyline will likely revolve around Magincia (they said so in a previous Five on Friday). To what extent, if any, the EMs will be involved in that, we the players don't know.

Since the conclusion of Warriors of Destiny, however, EM Malachi's Royal Spy events have continued. First, in a month-long cycle we shut down a terrorist group known as the Warriors of Valor, who sought to kill every non-human. Currently we appear to be dealing with an evil cult.

The Royal Spy events are almost-always almost-entirely in-character.

So you have to be a "Royal Spy" to participate in the spy events? Anyway, the evil cult bent on destroying non-humans was led by Brother Pemenard? The guy that wrote the Consiracy book? He wrote the orders I found in the forest. So these two books are from old events?

Show up, be enlisted.

That's pretty much what I did. I was definitely not there right from the start; I was on LS when the EM program began. I'd heard good things about GL's EMs, and the good things I'd heard were critical in deciding to come over. By not being there from the start, I have a couple of really critical things, including but not limited to training in how to break codes. But I do still participate fully.

Rare event items are handed out very sparingly, and are usually decorative in nature.

Brother Pemenard and the "Brothers of Valor" were part of the recently-completed "racist terrorist" cycle. So yes, the orders you found were part of an old event cycle, just not that old.

The "evil cult" cycle has just begun.

Thank you for the info. Now I know. I read some info on the EM site, and they mention the old event items, and to email the EM to report them so they can be cleaned up.

Oh well. Thought I had found something interesting.

I am sorry if u feel being insulted... which should not to be the case... Yet, I am telling you the turth, "GL players are always lost/confuse with the storyline". If not "always", at least very common enough... If you don't believe it, check out the ppls in the game.... if ppls know anything of the storyline, u will find the answer from them already... Since not many of them know the storyline well enough, that's why u are ending up coming to the forum seek for the answer, instead of being helped by other players in the game. In game storyline is not a very common thing which too many "in-game(ppls who are playing UO)" ppls know well enough with.

EM events are fun, that's why there are ppls who participating on it. However, if u can't participate on the events (work, or whatever real life issues), then you are pretty much being left out by these storyline, this is a hard fact to all UO players... If every storyline-based events are only done by real-life event, then u can expect more and more ppls will be left behind from the story... Even the EM web site won't cover up the full story (due to game play purpose), so if u miss something, u really miss it...:sad4: I just hope they can bring up some sort of archive section in EM site for some passed/old events, so ppls(or new players) can learn/review the storyline more easily.

Sorry for not really answering ur question in the 1st place... but I think you have the answer from GalenKnighthawke already... Anyway, have fun on the EM events.

You did.

Not current doesn't equate to not interesting, at least not to me.

Though the Conspiracy books may not be current there are other current happenings with the Royal Spies anyone on GL's is welcome to join in and participate with. While some find them "uneventful" many of us enjoy and look forward to each and every event given by our EM Team.

You are always more than welcome to attend the events. There are many folk at the events who know quite a bit of the history of the EM events and would be more than willing to help you get "up to speed" as it were with the goings on, so you don't feel "lost".

I myself would be more than willing to assist you or anyone interested in participating in the events as well as assisting anyone interested in joining the role-play community of Great Lakes.
