Dawn hadn’t even breached the sky when she quietly got up. Her muscles, sleep stiff and sore, moaned their disagreement at being forced to work. She exhaled sharply against the protest of her ribs and slipped into the temporary armor she’d purchased. Thom lay on his side facing away from her as he had been since he’d come to their bed late last night. Her confession of her trip to Skara hadn’t won her any points with him. Even the admission that he had been right and she had been wrong didn’t hold sway. While he wouldn’t bring it up again immediately, it *would* in fact be brought up at some point.
She gathered up Xavier, dressed him for the day, and grabbed some of his toys and a blanket from his chest. Holding him close she pulled out the runebook while he chattered and cooed against her.
“Kal Ort Por”
The duo materialized two feet from the brand new stone. “What do you think Xavier?” He grinned up at her as she turned him to face the walls, his expression changing to one of confusion. “Mommy’s new job.” He giggled at that, his hand fisting into her hair. With the proposal as specific as it was, she needed to see if the building was as requested. Room by room she and Xavier walked. “Cabinets aren’t in yet. Sink isn’t in yet. We’ll need rugs, Xavier.” One by one she ticked off the list out loud to him of all the things she needed to buy. “Want to see Mommy’s office?” Out the door and onto the teleporter they walked. The second floor was also as requested. It contained a place for patient files, the surgical room, and her office. “Add a desk to that list.” Situating him in her left arm with his legs splayed on either side of her hip she pulled out his blanket and squatted down to lay it on the floor. Her knees hitting stone, she dragged the corners pulling it taut before setting him down on it. She tossed out a few of his toys and folded her legs up under her. Reaching into her sack she pulled out her quill and a small piece of parchment to jot down the list they had started.
