just curious, i thought if you were hidden and tried to walk that it automaticly checked for stealth. does this not apply anymore? or can you just not skillgain that way? (i only have 5.2 stealth) also if it was checking to put me in stealth wouldnt it say something about stealth failed?

yes if you are hidden when you take your first step it will make a skill check for stealth. If you succeed it will say something to the extent you begin to move quietly, if you fail , you fail in your attempt to move quietly. It will make a skill check for the nuber of your steps equal to you skill level divided by 10. At 5 you are going to obviously be checked on every step and you are going to fail quite a lot. Go to Brit Bank set up a macro to hide wait 10 seconds then use the stealth skill, you do not even have to move. Wait another 10 seconds and start the macro over. It is a pain, but it can be raised.

The reply that I got when I stealthed....you failed in your attempt to move!
You may want to buy your stelath up a bit as well. I think you can buy it up to at least 23 or something. This will save time. It aslo helps with your hiding skill being high when you attempt to stealth.

yea, thats what i thought but when i move it says nothing and ive only tried it like 10 times (the moving for the stealth check with my stealth skill now at 23)
and every time it says nothing, and i have yet to go into stealth without actually clicking the skill... any idea whats going wrong? im human form and walking.

Make sure you have enough room for skill cap .
Make sure skill is turned up.
Make sure in your options you have it set to walk(not always run if his checked).
If it still don't work try putting a stealth item on to increase your stealth to where u start to get gains.IE:Burglars Bandana or jewels with stealth.
When I trained mine I just walked from 1 town to another hide stealth walk repeat.

Another good way to train stealth is in a large house you own or your friended to. easier to hide, and a better chance not to fail so much.

ummm silly question do you have 50 hiding?

Aye first off you have to at very low level be wearing plain street clothes.... secondly you need your hiding to be at 50 at least.

you have to have a min of 25 or 30 (cant remember which) stealth for it to do an auto check of steath if you move when hidden and you will gain in both hiding and stealth when it checks
and you can go to 65 -70 stealth with just plain clothes on then you need to put on some armor to gain after that point some thing that you fail about half the time is best to get gains fastest
you can buy stealth up to 40 skill from the stealthing instructor in new haven
and they changed min hiding to 30 instead of 50 to start stealthing
