Ok so I am just getting my thief out for the first time in about 5 years.

You are automatically revealed when you steal?....so whats the point then besides artifacts?

yes you auto reveal when you use the steal button not when you target the item, amd other than stealing artifacts i use it to harass teh gate fighters takeing teh bandaids/potions and at champs to take what scrolls i want

Not much point anymore besides artifacts. Only thing left to steal from players is cursed items and stackables (bandages), since anything else will be insured.

I believe bags are unstealable as well now.

people will forget to insure items, you just have to be patient. and the awesome thing about the reveal when you steal is, the chase! how boring would it be to steal and just slink away? you steal, they see you pop up next to them, you llama form and run like hell, crack a smoke bomb, hide your loot, come back and gloat haha. i dont see an issue...

Yes it happens, but not as much as it did pre-AoS

Couple things,

I use invis jewelry on my thief. Target, steal, burn charge on ring, animal form/walk away. If you reveal while you walk away, just click again. No timer for those. Although as some people have mentioned, the chase is half the fun. Though some people are rather good and chasing a stealthing person too!

I usually do a round on my thief to two areas when I'm on. The Despise champ spawn and heartwood fel, looking to steal runics.

Don't do too much stealing anymore but I'll relieve people of their scrolls if I catch a spawn going on. Though there's not much action in fel on Origin these days.
