I've decided to post the stories of in game thefts perpetrated by Evil Lord SMuRFY. I will post in the PvP Thieves forum when new stories have been posted. I'll be doing a lot more to polish the actual site up and make it a little more visually pleasing but I wanted to share some of Evil Lord SMuRFY's adventures with the UO community.

It is amazing that people can sit their and boast about a item they stole from someone in tram trying to make their house look better and make the shard look better. I wish it had been fell because i would have killed you and then talked smack to you. Then maybe I could make silly post about stealing a theifs life. That would make more sense then the stupid story you told. Whats funny about the whole story is your not even in the guild your doing this under. now i must tax you everytime you come to fel for being in my domain and on my facet. the person you stole from isnt upset about you stealing the plant but posting a silly story that degrades the person is very uncalled for. She is not wanting to play the game because you decided to do something this stupid.

It's a story, it's funny, laugh. While personally I don't consider the potted plant to be a theft (that and it happened in a land i never set foot in even when I used to play on other shards *shudders*) I don't see what's wrong about it. Somebody tosses something on the ground and he helpfully cleans it up, nobody likes a litterbug.

I should really write more of my own stories down, I've been slacking lately...take plenty of screen shots just never get around to compiling them, and awesome job with the dark template, makes it nice and easy to read.

Ginger, belittling you was not Evil Lord SMuRFY's intent. In fact, I think Evil Lord SMuRFY does a good job making sure he DOESN'T insult his marks.

The adventures are meant to be humorous and enjoyable. It so happens that the story you're featured in is humorous to folks that don't even play the game because it's less game dependent.

Evil Lord SMuRFY's antics will continue but I will try to make sure nobody's feelings are hurt even if their wallets are. I urge you to take a game less seriously, these are classic activities in UO and most folks enjoy them.

You're more than welcome to come after Evil Lord SMuRFY. keep in mind, he's a talented thief. You may find the tables turned on yourself when you seek to ambush him. I'd love to get a couple episodes with a nemesis as well.

I haven't seen a post like this since before AOS. There would be a dozen I'm quitting posts because someone killed, looted, or stole from me.

Let me start by stating that GOR the guild is dead their is one naked char in the guild and it is not LORD Smurfly. That is all that was ment by that sentance.

I understand the Darkside of UO. I have played a red for many years preying on less suspecting players to kill and loot anything I could from them. Even theirs suits if they were dumb enought to come to Fel uninsured. Me personaly I love the theif character but I believe UO has made it take itself as a skill and a template to an all time low. People stay in tram and do thing like deco because their not into the old school types of game play. That is their right. I do miss the old days but I am having to adjust to the new days also.

I know you wasnt trying to hurt fealings with your story but she did feal attacked already which was in my opinion one of them low moments for a theif. I guess the thing I am trying to say is scammers and hackers and scripters and cheaters in general have brought the theif template down over the years and people are tired of it. We left atlantic to get away from the aboved mentioned type of game play because frankly it got old. We pretty much stay to ourselves on Legends and was impressed with the tight nit community that was their. I do agree it was a mistake on our part to leave the house open to public so people could see the house as it was being decoed. Thank you for helping us realizing that, and realizing that their is a person on every shard if only 1 that can and does seek out trouble and causes it.

Your story was very creative and I understand your trying to bring back the old school game play. I wish more people played so it would be worth doing. All I am saying is me personaly I would pick a larger shard to cause Chaos on and leave the smaller one in peace. Atlantic is were a theif can make a killing. Legends it just pisses people off and makes them not trust each other anymore.

NEMISIS- I like that idea and it would make your stories more interesting but that requires doing your stuff in fel NOT tram. I know your pvpers are pretty good but i dont think i am to shabby either for one of the legit chars in the game that run nothing but uo assist. Yes people do run things in pvp even on Legends.

The Item was not placed on the ground and picked up as trash Raptor it was deco and placed in a house. So before you spat off at the mouth get the entire story down. He stole the item fair and square it was a legit theiving.

Silent death, Evil Lord SMuRFY is on several shards. As for that particular Evil Lord SMuRFY incarnation, he was made and sent to another shard after that theft. I would LOVE to see the return of GOR thieves, I think many folks would prefer not to deal with talented veteran thieves though.

I intend to show folks the fun side of stealing and remind thieves that there is still loot to be had and old school tactics and creativity still reign in the thieving profession.

Try that to an EM you just stole from. They will simply take the item back with a total lack of reguard for the event they are putting on(it was a Fel thief event)and the spirit of the game. The problem is the game has moved towards removing all common sense players and replacing them with players that push for more and more rules to protect them.

As the stories are quite entertaining.. and they do indeed remind me of UO past.. nothing this "thief" is doing is violating the game TOS or mechanics.

A quote taken from another MMORPG about scam/thefts in game:

" A scam or theft is what happens when someone takes advantage of your misplaced trust, temporary confusion or ignorance of game rules, and robs you via legal in-game means. When this occurs, there is nothing the Support Team can do for you. Although low and despicable, scams do not violate any game mechanics and can not be compensated for by the GMs, nor can the scammers generally be punished for their actions. "

This should be the same for UO imo.

EXPLOITS, 3rd Party programs & altering game mechanics to obtain items or in game currency should definitely be banned, punished or whatever.. no doubt about that.

Anyways, just truly shows how the game has progressed over the years... people crying about a lost plant.. LOL

The object of the event was to steal grapes or to PvP with people who had stolen grapes. Mesanna took the item from you because it's not an item players are supposed to have. The item was of no use to you; you weren't able to move it around in your pack or remove it from your pack. Did you really want it stuck in your backpack for all eternity? Mesanna very kindly offered you a Festival of the Grapes stein, which you declined.

The game owns all items in the game, by definition. He stole something not part of the event, which he also couldn't move. If he couldn't move it, odds are he shouldn't have been able to steal it either. There's lots of bugs in this game. When you find one, sometimes you get to keep stuff from it, and sometimes you don't. And sometimes there's action taken against your account.

It's for the manufacturer to decide.

Mesanna is a direct representative of the manufacturer, and EM Elizabella is an indirect representative. Mesanna, as a representative of the manufacturer, decided.

You haven't said that any action was taken against your account so I presume it wasn't. I'd guess it is unlikely that would happen.

I can't imagine wanting an item stuck in my pack. When stealing from EMs or at events. Make sure you tell the truth, or at least a close enough version as to constitute what is substantially the truth.

Never mess with Mesanna, know that she DOES have our best interests at heart and bashing her over a thieves issue is not smart because she's shown she's on our side. Honestly, In your shoes I might have suggested an item that related to stealing rather than giving her attitude. You might have found yourself in possession of something truly rare and desired.

Wow, looking through these I could write a full length novel on my exploits and adventures of thievery... (Not exploits as in mechanic abuse, mind you, the dashing kind that involve an awesome goatee.) People rarely detect hidden before placing valuable objects... or at auctions... or for that matter, anywhere really. It was a lot of fun to sneak up auction teleports before the auction when they are set to anyone security, since most a few years ago left it to public except during an auction.. and sometimes, even then. Just stealth up, pick up a few.. objects... enjoy!

In an earlier post you said you tried to sell the item back to her, not give it back. You seem to be making up things as you go along! I do love your old school thievery though and the stories, real or not, that go along with it.

I think the funniest part is the number of ICQs I get where people ask me why I robbed them... 99% of the time, I get these ICQs when I'm not in game and didn't rob the person.

I also think this one was bad taste, even if some of the rest was entertaining. There is a difference of coolness by many magnitude between stealing from an auction house and someone quietly having fun at home...

Don't forget the rich people in UO that have a heart and take things personally are all very poor people even if they have billions gold.

EA has managed to make most of the community go away, so something that felt fun and cool before might feel like turning a knife in the wound these days...

Wowza. long sentence. Anyway, this is a game. We're roleplaying. If everyone is the good guys, the game is not only boring, it's idiotic. Roleplaying in UO has always been fun because you could take any angle and roll with it. Everyone has their trophies, you enjoy having someone try and detect you. I enjoy great thefts of high end items. Evil Lord SMuRFY steals what he wants; Everyone owes the King. Stealing hard earned event items? They're in felucca, and Evil Lord SMuRFY earned that item. Most of the time these items are given out as a result of RNG contests that involved no skill whatsoever. We disagree fundamentally on who EARNED it. I say Evil Lord SMuRFY earned those items with skill, patience and strategy.

If an EM deleted an event item from your bank box either by accident or out of spite, would you expect it to be replaced? It's not favoritism, it's Mesanna showing that she is fair minded and takes care of the player base.

Why would a player get a warning or a suspension for playing a thief? If you're a great thief, don't you think that would be a bit silly? A skill in a game that if you use, you risk being banned.
