The Flood of Uber Spell books in this last publish has really diminished Inscription. I would really like to see some caps raised on player crafted books(better odds on super slayers) and such.

Possibly some new recipe's for scribes even some deco recipe's would be nice too, a printing press anyone? Like tailors have spinning wheels and cooks have ovens.:scholar:

Arrrr, they should add inscribed credos of the virtues to craftin'! With special effects when decorated with in certain combinations or patterns! ;)

I am all for the idea that inscription, which is not fun to gm, should have a craftable special besides the scrappers, but just what I am not sure.

Actually I completely disagree.... With new UBER spellbooks out a Scribe mage becomes just that wee bit better.. So nah... Inscription got a bump with the new books lol...

A perfectly illustrated .... TRAM vs FEL viewpoint.... :lick:

Not really. The different aspects of the skill are the same on both facets. And beside that the new spells books have nothing to do with scribes in terms of a mage with inscription.

Considering that I can't sell undead slayer spellbooks for 5k now, when I could sell them for 1 mil before. I'd call that an impact. I will say that this spellbook drop was great for halloween. However, I would not call it un impacting.

Lets look at the properties involved. Yes, the tome of lost knowledge was out there with the same properties minus the undead slayer. However, more of basically the same books have been released into the world. Most people will find the undead version more desirable than the tome since it has undead added to it. Even though they get the slayer penalty.

I agree. As I said I meant it had no impact on a mage with inscription on his template for extra spell damage.

IDK about you but i still end up going back to my trust scrappers and slayers books(save for undead) for the fc/fcr on them. Not to mention the LMC. 5% SDI just doesnt overtake FC1/fcr1 10 LMC.

The scrapper is still king.

Now depending on situation i do at time swap in my 3 MR 30 SDI 10 LRC "healer" book just for the regns on longer hunts. Maybe on a 3 player melesandria or a solo general but short of that the scrappers out damages any 30 sdi book on my template/item setup.

Well considering that any PvP scribe mage is typically also wrestling that means that a NEW high end spellbook is available to use if your a Wrestling scribe mage. That's a Bump for Scribe Mages...

The price of undead slayer books plummeted when it became a reward for the the new haven quest. I am more concerned that the general books are so much better than scrappers. It is not easy to sell scrapper's anymore. It would be nice for scribes to have a new recipe.

I also want to dye my spellbooks.

In hindsight, the scrappers was a mistake - it was too much of a power jump when they could have stretched things out with a sequence of new kinds of craftable spellbooks. Right now, a scribe without peerless ingredients really only has slayer books (or selling newbie full books) as a goal.

Somewhere down the road, I would like to see a magic system where inscription was used to craft spells of different properties. That is to say, the system would have one spell a magic arrow type spell, but the spellbook would act as a bow-like weapon, giving you your damage types, bonuses, etc.

Alternatively, a tinker/inscription combo for crafting wands.

Even if it's pointless to make spell books, Inscribe is still awesome for pvp. The extra spell damage is nice.

So inscribe isn't really diminished.

I would like to see the 1% to 5% DCI we're seeing on the invasion spellbooks added as a possible attributes a scribe could create in a player-made spellbook. Possibly an increase in the SDI cap from 9% to 15% is also in order.

I don't think the undead slayer thing, however, is that big of a deal. You could always get one easy with the new player quest for inscription. If the devs add other superslayer spellbooks into special event items, then we have a need to rebalance the inscription skill.

Yes yes inscription is good for pvp( now thinking out side of pvp, you can do that right?)

What Part about " PLayer Crafted" are you hung up on? you going to stab me lou? cuase I like Making things in game?

Inscription has been diminished from a crafting point of veiw. It needs the caps raised on the standard player made books.

Can we begin by allowing SW/Mystic/Ninja/Chiv/Bushi/Necro Spells/Books to be scribed? WITH all the properties available for Magery Books...?

Instead of just visiting a couple of NPCs or -Surprise!- kill stuff?

I would be okay even with Scribes able to create Blessings in the form of Monograms or Runes magically imbued in Blank Scrolls, which then the player can carry and would have a timer once used.

I really like the idea of scribing all the books, would be nice to be able to dye them or personalize them more.

Perhaps adding more than 10% sdi for having gm inscription, maybe add 1 int per 20 skill to the character.

Well, it's been diminished far before this event lol, nobody ever uses player made spell books unless it's a super slayer (still the same even after this event because none of them were super slayers so people WILL still try and crafty super slayers, only super slayer the had at this event was the undead which you can get an undead slayer spell book in new haven by doing a newbie quest) People will still want scrappers. So really this event has changed nothing lololol@you. Inscribe is as it's always been mainly for pvp and making super slayers and scrappers. What's changed? I would prefer a scrappers over these new spell books any day.

you would prefer a scrapper over a book that has 30 sdi, 10 dci, fcr2 and 5lmc?

get yourself an orny, and a ring with more sdi and dci, a kasa and a shield and you can easily get
50+ sdi, 30+ dci and 2/6
i found a ring on my shard with fcr3, dci 13 and lrc 15 for only 5k

Only the PvP aspect of inscription has been given a tiny boost, If you look at the "player crafted" aspect you can clearly see it needs some love.

Yesterday I burned through twelve thousand scrolls and had only crafted two keepers a 9sdi dragon slayer and a non-marked elemetal slayer. The 900-1000 others were worthless. Yes the scrapper is still a nice book if RNG likes you..

I believe however the caps on standard books could use a nice boost.

I would also like to see a Fay slayer added.:)

Yup this is the best I've ever done.

It was worth millions now I probably couldn't sell it for 100k... Besides special scrappers there is not much left to make any money with inscription.

It would be nice to scribe SW scrolls, and maybe while their at it maybe let us make necro spellbooks with properties like mage spellbooks but with necro properties.

Another idea for a craftable would be the ability to take a blank rune and maybe a mark and recall scroll and combine them to make a enhanced blank rune so that any char could take it and just double click it and mark the rune. Can't tell you how many times I've been on a dexxer and needed to mark a rune.

So i'm new to this particular board, but i thought i'd throw my two cents in, as I've just recently dove into the thrills (or lack of them) of inscription.

Yes. GMming inscription is a pain, and incredibly boring, and not the best investment as far as returns go, especially in pvm. Ii'm at 88.6 myself, and i'm already tempted to wait out the months relying on ggs. And yes, better craftables would help, along with something equating to the spinning wheel or flour mill that other crafts enjoy. I'd really love to see a way to craft blank scrolls and runebooks. personally.

It seems, though, that all is not lost for the inscription merchant, even in light of the new halloween spellbooks. I have a few of these available at my vendor house at a competitive rate, along with some scrappers resells and slayers and such. But my real moneymaker has been runebooks. If you get a little creative with your rune collections, inscription can still be profitable. Some of my runebooks go for more than 20k, and dont require the specialty ingredients that a scrappers does. AND people are alot more willing to spend 20k than hundreds of thousands.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone here that inscription needs some help. But until it gets it, I guess I've just changed my focus.
