So i'm new to this particular board, but i thought i'd throw my two cents in, as I've just recently dove into the thrills (or lack of them) of inscription.
Yes. GMming inscription is a pain, and incredibly boring, and not the best investment as far as returns go, especially in pvm. Ii'm at 88.6 myself, and i'm already tempted to wait out the months relying on ggs. And yes, better craftables would help, along with something equating to the spinning wheel or flour mill that other crafts enjoy. I'd really love to see a way to craft blank scrolls and runebooks. personally.
It seems, though, that all is not lost for the inscription merchant, even in light of the new halloween spellbooks. I have a few of these available at my vendor house at a competitive rate, along with some scrappers resells and slayers and such. But my real moneymaker has been runebooks. If you get a little creative with your rune collections, inscription can still be profitable. Some of my runebooks go for more than 20k, and dont require the specialty ingredients that a scrappers does. AND people are alot more willing to spend 20k than hundreds of thousands.
I'm not disagreeing with anyone here that inscription needs some help. But until it gets it, I guess I've just changed my focus.
