Just getting back into uo after being gone for awhile. Really don't know anyone in game and will be starting on a new shard fresh. What do you all think is the way to start fresh on a new shard to raise money and such.. miner/lj/or other choice?

While crafting/resource gathering can be profitable, I like my Mystic/Imbuer for its ability to generate gold. Once you get to 83+ Mysticism (realy GM and above to be effective) you can cast Rising Colossus. This summoned colossal stone titan can easily kill most high level farmable monsters for gold and loot to unravel by your Imbuing skill. This is assuming you have Stygian Abyss.

I would start a new Gargoyle Character with 50 Mysticism and 50 Imbuing and some magery to be able to recall and back up your other skills. If you can get your hands on an LRC suit, you can train both Mysticism and Magery fairly quickly and whitout breaking the bank in regents costs. (If you decide to play on Lake Austin or Atlantic, I can set you up with LRC suits and basic reources and supplies that you will need to get started).

For a shard that will allow you to place a large house with no problem and still have some great people to play with I would go with LA or one of the less populated shards. If you are looking for a shard with a lot of people I would go with Atlantic, but housing is limited and expensive--well, everything is expensive on Atlantic. I play activly on both as each has its pros and cons.

Once you can gather enough imbuing resources from unraveling stuff with the imbuing skill, you can start training it to 120. At that point you can make a lot of gold selling imbued armor and weapons. I gather every magic item from every creature I kill and unravel it for the resources. You can gain imbuing skill up into the 70s and higher before you actually have to start using resources and actually imbuing stuff for skill. It is a slower way, but the most cost effective IMO. I have trained 1 imbuer on LA to 120 and never brought any ingreedients to train. I am working on my 2nd on Alt now. You can also make a good bit of gold selling imbuing resources.

Good Question.

Well it would depend on the shard I would hazzard to guess. The most populated shard at this time is Atlantic.
That being said, many shards offer you different ways to build back up to your personal standings. Some are more populated then others.

Also there is to consider what you like to do. PvM vs PvP. Now if that is 64 million dollar question. Here is the 128 million dollar answer.

All shard will give you the same advantages and disadvantages. Its all in how you play.

Prime example is when we had the house run on Origin and Lake Austin. In under 3 days many had castles up. Of course they had the use of advanced character tolkens and the afore knowlage of how to build fast cash.

I personaly would go to the uogamecode store and get a few of them(advanced character tolkens), But if your a pureist and want the hard work of building up a from scratch character and forgo the hype of buying gold and all.
Go with the pioneer players who went the hard way and make a smith/miner to make gold from the ore/ingots made products... this will take time.
Cartographer,Scriptionist,Lj, all of which have ways to make gold very quickly and gain skills you might want later on.

In many shards defence, I wish to point out there are players if they find you are a returning player and have nothing will set you up with at least some armor, weapons or even starter gold. Many like Siege have a guild for "new" players. Kemo or Petra can vouch for them on Siege.
