Yes he was at the party, and was crowned as the new king. No he's not part of EA again, he was the 'guest speaker'.
According to his LinkedIn details he is Executive Producer at The Walt Disney Company, Greater Los Angeles Area so he came an awful long way to do that.

Yes he came as Blackthorn, he also did a great Q&A session. It really was interesting. Mesanna made him an offer to occasionally come in game as King Blackthorne and he said he would definately take her up on it.

I happened to have an apple in my pocket (brought from the hotel in case the lunch food was not my style), so I went up to him after the ceremony and told him that in honor of his coronation, his coworkers at Disney sent him this apple from Queen Maleficent - though I thought it might be a good idea to pass on it. That was good for a chuckle from him.
