Stable Slots

How can i count my stable slots? At what point do they go up and down.

From the UO Playguide:

160 - 199.9 - 3​

200 - 239.9 - 4​

240+ - 5​

You will be awarded another stable slot for each of the following skills at 100.0, 110.0, and 120.0: Animal Taming, Animal Lore, and Veterinary.

so at 3 x GM - 8, 3 x elder - 11, 3 x legendary - 14.

one more... Does jewls count towards it?. Got to ask before i drop points and loose some of my pets. Did this before and lost a 7 year old dragon. But thankfully when i regained the skills and reopend the stable slot he was still in there! So it seams that youre pets are not lost forever just untill you get enough skills to reopen the stable slots you had when you put them in there

Yes, you can get a slot with jewels.
