Anyhoo, I was crunching some numbers in Excel, over skill management, determining what to do with my garg character...
And I was just typing up my character stats for Morgan Le Faye, my mage/necro, whom I recently got up to all 120s.
I'd like to say that I built her through many adventures, but truth be told, most of those skills were built in GGS .1 bumps. I was musing that this is the case of the magnificent ship that never leaves the harbor. What's the point if I never use the character?
Fact is, I play my main almost exclusively. I like playing the pally archer. I never really got the hang of playing the mage, but then I never really had much of an interest in pursuing it.
Looking at the rest of my stable, I see they all are pretty much just devices for different play types depending on my mood...
- Sacre Bleu -- My crafter. Strictly for the rare times I feel like crafting or collecting BODs.
- Cutty -- My treasurehunter. I built him to solo pretty much any treasure hunt. Of course when I tired of the paltry payouts and got an overwhelming sense of "been there done that" with treasurehunting... my interest in this character fell to the wayside.
- Alex De Large -- Mule #2 - Inscription, potion crafting, he's the house mule to the extreme - his only purpose is to support my other characters.
- Oroku Saki -- Ninja - He's the exception, because I enjoy playing him, rooting around in Fel, getting into all kinds of mischief. Sure he dies a lot, but his inventory is entirely blessed, making death mean absolutely nothing. It's tons of fun to play a character like that.
My point? Erm, I guess the point is, should I make a Gargoyle Character with all the spiffy new skills, or should I just admit to myself the pallyarcher main is really the only character I'm gonna play in UO, and not waste my time?
